Cool thanks, I haven't seen much written about changing rear shocks on the Gen 4 Rail. I would hope 62.5 is possible given the eye to eye is the same and there seems to be plenty of clearance for a larger piggy back. There are a bunch of tunes available so I was hoping someone had already done the homework there. Levo gets a tune from Rockshox, I would have thought a popular bike like the Rail would get a tune too, but I suspect the Rail would work pretty well with a 'standard' tune due to its pretty simple kinematics and middle of the road leverage ratio. Leverage on the Levo is quite different.Should fit no problems on 750wh battery rail. As for sizes 230x57.5 is factory so you can potentially overstroke to 230x60 and even possibly a 230x62.5
HTH
I don't have proof but its fits gen 4 large so should fit medium. Anything with the newer geo and 750wh battery should fit.Anyone have knowledge if this will fit a Medium Gen 4 Rail (carbon)? Just got a smoking deal on a 9.7 and rear shock is the first thing I am changing.
I am specifically interested in 230x62.5
625wh battery correct? If so no surpises... 750wh frames (gen 3 and 4) have much more room for the piggybackI 3D printed a very close approximation of a vivid 230x57.5 and it doesn’t come close to fitting on a 2022 medium 9.7 rail. The piggyback makes contact when you compress. The trunnion mount with an adapter might be possible as it will raise up the piggy back but I haven’t gotten around to modeling and testing that yet.

Do you have any images of the shock at 0 psi and fully compressed to see how close piggy back comes to the downtube. Looking to install on a my23 Rail 7 ALU. Not sure to stay at 57.5 or go up to 60 or 62.5Just put a 2025 RockShox vivid ultimate on a 2022 trek rail 7 gen 2 and had no fitment problems however very little clearance when shock is bottomed out but it fits and makes no contact
Shock is a 230x60 giving an extra 5mm rear travel

No photos but can take one tomorrow but you have around 5mm clearance on a 230x60 with a 2022 medium frameDo you have any images of the shock at 0 psi and fully compressed to see how close piggy back comes to the downtube. Thanks. I forgot to ask if your shock version used was standard or trunnion. No photos but can take one tomorrow but you have around 5mm clearance on a 230x60 with a 2022 medium frame
Just a standard fittingThanks. I forgot to ask if your shock version used was standard or trunnion.
Just pulled trigger on 230 x 57.5 Vivid Coil (2025)at Black Friday pricing for under $600 with Electric Red 550# coil spring. Pray it fits. Any pics of the Vivid Ult by chance? No photos but can take one tomorrow but you have around 5mm clearance on a 230x60 with a 2022 medium frame
Sorry mate shock pump has gone caput but I’m pretty sure on the coils the piggy back is slightly shorter so you should have more clearance than the air shock version and if needs be you could get a longer rubber bumper to reduce the shock movement by a small bit for even more clearance if you need it.Just pulled trigger on 230 x 57.5 Vivid Coil (2025)at Black Friday pricing for under $600 with Electric Red 550# coil spring. Hi - how are you getting on with this coil shock?
I am in love again with my Rail. I wish I had moved up to at least 60 mm stroke but with a 550 lb coil and weight at 225 lbs with full bike park gear on I can feel the HBO (lowest support setting) still save me just fine on the big “huck to flats”. I run “magic carpet ride” settings with HS/LS wide open and rebound at 7 clicks from Turtle and 32% sag. I have put in about 100 trail miles since my last post in December and I can’t make the piggy back hit the frame no matter how hard I try. Get a 60mm stroke easily and maybe 62.5 for lighter riders willing to use a bit more damper and less sag%.Hi - how are you getting on with this coil shock?
Does it make any contact with the frame?

Rear wheel traction is also insanely improved. I move through the trails now on average about 4 mph faster through every segment.
Nice, that should get you an increase in travel to 155 (156.5)Thanks for the update
My son has a Vivid Coil Ultimate on his DH bike , that's 225x75mm (Trunnion Mount), 180mm rear travel, and it feels so plush.
I'll seek out a 60mm stroke version for my Rail
Hi - a quick question please : What shock mounting hardware did you use?Nice, that should get you an increase in travel to 155 (156.5)
