Thank you for your advice! I’m defitely going to ride downhill and bike parks too. That bullit is way too good looking bike and going next week to shop to have look both Bullit and Vala.

I personally don't see much downside to going with more travel. I've been doing this for a while now on my analog bike but just run more pressure and have a second lighter wheel set/tires for trail mode. There's just geometry left to consider.

To have the same sag amount as 25% on a 150mm travel, you would need to run approximately 20% sag on 180mm travel.

By matching spring rates and achieving the same millimeter sag on with longer travel, you are essentially setting it up to ride with the same dynamic ride feel as a shorter travel setup, but with an extra 30mm of travel in reserve.

That is really good point I think! Lighter tires and more pressure on the suspension. With that setup I would have probably best emtb for downhill and bikeparks and pretty good allmountain bike. 🤷🏻‍♂️
 
First ride on the Bullit today, was hoping for decent range using just the 600kwh battery.

Managed just shy of 1800m over 25 miles using a good spread of power modes, plenty of emtb

I’m super pleased with this, was a mild day in UK so expect a drop off come winter however no complaints given the Bullit is a FF 170 monster truck

Handles well too, think this was the correct choice over the Vala
 
Quick question in relation to the PowerMore extender - can you plug this in mid ride or when the main battery has depleted or will this need to be fitted from the start when the main battery is at 100%? Cheers

They address this on the Bullit pages on the Santa Cruz website (Setup & Support):

At what point on my ride should I begin using the PowerMore range extender?
It is recomended that if you plan a ride with the range extender, the range extender is plugged in and being used from the point the ride begins.

In my experience though, it is not necessary. Every time I have used it, I have plugged it mid ride (or even further than that) with no problem at all. And I remove it to go down etc. I find it super flexible and a great solution actually.
 
Thanks - if that’s the case then this will be super flexible as I may not need it on some rides, therefore do not want to carry it unnecessarily !

Yes, it's exactly how I have been using it: as a kind of "backup" (I put it in my backpack when I go on longer rides). And the more I use this setup, the more I feel the "smaller" battery and lighter bike + extender is a perfect combo. Really glad SC did this.

I found this one when I was looking at doing it. I think the challenge for having it clean looking will be where it exits the chainstay and connecting it to the motor.
 
Hey, first time poster here, and haven't yet owned an e-bike.

I currently ride a Spire which I love but want to pick up an e-bike this spring.

The Bullit is at the top of my list but am curious to know what other bikes are in it's category? Travel, capabilities, build quality?

After owning and riding a 170 travel bike I can't see myself with a shorter travel bike unless I owned several which is not monetarily feasible for me.
 
Crestline bikes are usually fairly long travel, but aren’t cheap. The new Velduro Rogue as well, but we don’t have line of sight to a distributor in the US just yet and availability will probably be scarce for a while. If you’re okay with lower assist the Trek Slash+ is 170/170, the Fuel+ can get to 170/160. Orbea has the Wild at 170/170, the Yeti LTe just came out at 170/160 as well.
 
Just put a deposit down a Matte Teal Sparkle Bullit. Been eyeing this bike since its release. There were a couple of other bikes on my list - primarily those with Anvinox system such as Crestline & Mith mainly. I think this bike ticks every box for what I was looking for. I'm sure some new bikes will come out but my online interest would be updates in motor tech (lighter weight) and lighter batteries. I'd love to seem some LT, full power 800wh bikes at the 45lb mark which I suppose the top end mith is very close.
 
Need sizing advice: Santa Cruz Bullit XL vs XXL (coming from Orbea Wild XL)

Hey everyone,
I’m looking for some input on sizing for the Santa Cruz Bullit. I currently ride a 2024 Orbea Wild in XL and love the fit, but when I checked the Bullit’s geometry, the XL seems noticeably shorter in reach compared to my Orbea.

Here are my stats:
  • Height: 192 cm (104kg kitted)
  • Body proportions: long torso, short legs (I’m basically a “sitting giant”)
  • Current bike: 24 Orbea Wild XL
So the Bullit XL is about 10 mm shorter in reach than my Orbea, while the XXL adds +10 mm over the Orbea and a bit more wheelbase and stack.
The Bullit XXL looks closer to the reach I’m used to, but I’m wondering if going XXL might feel too big overall, especially with my shorter inseam. I ride mostly aggressive trail and some bike park, so stability matters, but I don’t want to end up with a bike that feels like a boat in tight stuff.

    • Stack: 654 mm

Hi Pete. I’m similar in size - 191cm, long torso short legs. The issue with the XXL is the really long seat tube at 500mm. No idea why they went so long on this. For me it would be a dealbreaker on getting the XXL.

I tried a XL. Liked it a lot. Wished it had a taller stack height and longer chainstay.

Is the seat post really that much of a problem?
On my Wild, I have a 240mm Fox transfer that still has a couple of cm of space.
So maybe on the Bullit it would be fully slammed?

First ride on mine yesterday, absolutely brilliant...feels so light and centre of gravity feels spot on...super pleased with it, although the brakes are a bit on/off for my taste. (90 build).

Friends were all very impressed too after some test rides :)
 
Hi all! First post here. By way of introduction: I am very lucky to live in the French Alps since a couple years ago, on the shores of Lake Geneva. Not so lucky to have 5 bikes stolen a couple months ago, heartbreak. But, a good excuse for a new bike, so I bit the bullet a few days ago and got a Bullit 70 delivered today. Assembled the bike quickly at lunchtime, and have a few questions:
- what’s the consensus on range extender cable length? I’ve a Large frame, and judging by the earlier posts 200mm is the way to go?
- the bike comes with a SDG Tellis Dropper; it’s very long for me, so i slammed it all the way into the frame… and think I broke something, as it’s not staying down. Any ideas?

Few notes:
- the bike is meant to come with a ZEB Base, but I guess they ran out of- mine came with a Select+ with a charger 3.0. Am i super lucky?
- it did not arrive with a kiox however, so will be ordering that
- the shop offered a 700 euro voucher for their shop with the bike, so I’m planning to buy the battery pack, the kiox, and a bottle holder for the battery pack mount. Hesitating whether I should be upgrading the DB8 brakes though, it’s pretty steep where I live…
 
Sounds like cable tension issue with the dropper - pull the cable out from the frame a little to remove any additional tension you may have placed in the actuator

That's a LOT of range on a 600w.

I wonder if anyone has ever noted how efficient the Bosch motors are compared to some of the other options...
 
He must be light or really fit, otherwise it's a bit difficult to reach those numbers on the 600wh. Tour+ & Emtb can give somewhere around 1500m of vert. Anything above that is either low mass or serious man power
 
The Bullit is my first ebike and I ride plenty of good old fashioned pedal power and yes generally fit @ c72kgs

I like to have a work out so pedal the fire roads up to the trail head in Tour + trying to maintain a high cadence

The climbs are not tech but a fairly long creep uphill (Surrey hills)

Best I’ve managed c2.2k metres vert with the range extender with just under 10% left

So pleased with it - hope it holds together, all the ebike stories I’ve heard previously did worry me I must say!

I can relate to that, I'm 81-82 naked and 84-85 geared up so I could reach 2000 vert with the 800wh battery and still have some spare change but but much . As current offerings in full powers motors , Bosch is clearly the most efficient. I think the new TQ is going strong as well but would be interesting if you set the power on some modes to match it from a Gen5 with the 600wh battery if it would surpass it

A little late to the sizing party but I am 191cm also with 92cm inseam and arm span that is 209cm, ape factor of +18cm. Weight 106kg. Sorta normal except for the long arms. I have a Vala and went with the XXL for the reach and added a 25mm spacer under the stem which is as high as it will go with the steerer. There is about 3cm of seatpost above the frame with the stock 240mm one. Bike does not feel long and is totally balanced for my dimensions. Very closely matches the dimensions of my Tallboy 4.
 
How long did everybody’s Bullit order take? I have been told by my LBS “late March” most likely.
