My new bike came with 165mm crank which is pretty standard with EMTB but after riding a couple trails I noticed more pedal strikes on climbs and steep descents so I ordered the same stock cranks but in 155mm length to try.

So far so good on one ride but I do have to move my seat up another 10mm to make up for the shorter cranks.

There’s probably a science behind it but I don’t know why mtb’s come with long cranks. I’ve been riding 155 for years, recently bought a new bike with 165 and not only got constant pedal strikes but also knee pain. Stuck some 155 on and feels perfect. Wouldn’t think 10mm would make a difference.

I understand the crank length is important for power and efficiency for road bikes and non-EMTB but with a motor I feel that we can get away with shorter cranks to increase clearance
