On the brake front Hope do a dual lever setup ie two levers on one side. Might be worth a look.

There a a couple of dual button Di2 options that can be used for shifting. I probably have one in a drawer if it is any use to you.

Firstly I hope things work ok with impending Amputation
It's great to know all is not lost with your cycling, that hope brake lever is a brilliant piece of kit.
I will be in trying to purchase one of those for the wife who had a Brain bleed and Stroke last year, I bought her a JORVIK E trike and it's still early days but she's sticking with it, and that Dual lever going to be a game changer for her (y)

It's been a rough 14 months i had 12 injuries that night and still fighting with half of them a few operations to attempt to fix nerves but without any success so amputation is the best option for me. All being well im finally getting the collarbone fixed after them not operating the three times it was planed then the amputation shortly after. The best of luck for your wife in her recovery

You did want to be in the position your in, but just keeping positive is the biggest win and hope your out there riding soon

Yes i have had some really bad days and said some stupid things but with some help i can look forward rather than dwelling on what happened

Commiserations about the crash and the sad consequences. But here's a positive note.

Quite a few years ago now, I followed a rider into the carpark and discovered that we were parked next to each other. We were both putting our bikes in the back of the car and both removed our front wheel. I wasn't watching him, just aware out of the corner of my eye. Then I noticed that he put the bike in the back of the car with one hand! (pre emtb!) Intrigued, I commented something like "Bloody hell, you're strong!" or something inane like that. He turned to face me and I noticed that he only had one arm! I was embarrassed, but he quickly said "no problem mate!" ..etc. I asked how the hell he was able to ride an mtb with one arm and he promptly lifted the bike out and showed me that all of his controls were on one side. Unprompted he told me that he was about to saw off the unused side of the bar! He said that when he came off, the bar poked him in the gut and he could do without that!

He'd had to boost his upper body strength and that of his remaining arm, but that was all it took. (ALL! - he made it sound so easy!) I was gobsmacked and full of admiration at the same time. It shows you what we are capable of.

You can do it @Bigmike !! :)

Thank you Steve ill get there

I have also come across other ex-forces guys riding bikes after a disabling injury. One had a missing foot; he had a special shoe (SPD) that he clipped to his prosthetic. Another had a missing hand and wrist. He fastened himself to the bars, but had all the controls on the other side like the guy in the above post. He had a dead man's connection so that if he came off, he was released from the bike above a certain tension.

All three guys were riding alone, no nursemaids to put their kit away.

I was in awe of those guys, and (God forbid that) if I should receive a disabling injury, I would hope to emulate their fortitude and determination, and stay on the bike!

I have ridden with a guy who had the same issue following a M/c accident. He rode one handed remarkably well and sometimes fell off just like the rest of us: usually tractor ruts.Sadly I have lost touch else I would pass on his details. Depending on finances there is always one of these, not everyones taste
I ride one with my wife,it has proper off road capabulities .For a while I piloted the exact same model for a guy whose left arm was paralysed. (Again I have lost touch) It's surptising what can be achieved. .....Good luck with your recovery

Hi just a update on what I did in the end i got the m8260 rear derailure and the sw m8250 shifter and ew-ps300 cable i then had to go to a bike shop to get the port activated then set up the mec and shifter on the etube app then add the mec on the flow app disconnect the apps then cycled the power on the bike it then shows on the display and you can cycle through the modes manual manual^ and auto. works really well especially the coast shift (shifting without peddling)
