• Warning!!

Riding a tuned or deristricted EMTB is not a trivial offence and can have serious legal consequences. Also, many manufacturers can detect the use of a tuning device or deristricting method and may decline a repair under warranty if it was modified from the intended original specification. Deristricting EMTB's can also add increased loads for motors and batteries. Riding above the local law limit may reclassify the bike as a low-powered bike, requiring insurance, registration and a number plate.

Be aware of your local country laws. Many laws prohibit use of modified EMTB's. It is your responsibility to check local laws. Ignoring it, has potential implications to trail access, and risk of prosecution in the event of an accident.

Derestricting bosch smart system

Well, if it goes to limp mode, as I know it is only to ride 90min without assist. That is annoying, but not a big deal I think. On the other hand, I would do for fun. To learn. I'm sure it will be more expensive at the end comparing to an off shelf solution, but I value the experience. You know .... curiosity may be stronger than obstacles :)
if it happens 3 times, then it will be blocked and you have to pay for unlocking at a bosch dealer, this will happen to you as part of testing, expect it

Hey, could you share the installer so i can maybe reverse engineer and see how to reproduce?
This won't work unless you are a Bosch dealer. You need to log in online or with a USB token. Bosch knows what they are doing.

Diagnostic tool for systems prior to SMART will work with a USB token(IBD or OEM). There's also a cracked version of that one. The new diagnostic tool will use digital certificates issued by Bosch to dealers (IBD) or bike manufacturers/integrators (OEM). I think the polish guy has access to an OEM license so it can install different containers (EU/US).

The version I got access to is unobfuscated and quite readable - this makes it possible to bypass certain parts of the program. seeing the polish guy does not download anything off bosch's servers, I see possibilities here :D
That's why i'd like the offline version

he still logs in with a bosch id to actually update the bike.
He also deletes a file off the desktop which I think was the firmware.
I have an SSD so didn't try to recover it.
In the bosch app the dealer services are locked without logging in, mine still lets me use the diagnostics without logging in.
other people seem not able so maybe I have a cookier somewhere that's going to time out eventually.
I sent the installer to someone and they still only had a login screen with no cancel button like I do.
I suspect I disabled a windows service the app relies on, but I don't know which.

I would have disable dloads of crap when I installed windows.
The bosch services are running but I still get 1757780347666.png
Then when I click ok
1757780388916.png

I hit cancel and can use everything but dealer services, and I have no capacitor tester module so that's greyed out.
but I can see all the diagnostics stuff if I connect my bike.
int he profile section of the app, it says not logged in but still lists his shop and address underneath.

1757780532249.png

I can't see any saved file locally
Even with the same installer for the bosch diagnostics, someone on this forum doesn thave a cancel button on, only a forced login.

so I have no idea why mine is different unless theres a browser cookie somewhere, I'm still not logged in and the app even warns I can;use everything without logging in.
but for some reason someone else with the same installer sees a totally different login screen

interesting! if you're able to recover i'd love to take a look at the installer / installed files!

I'd recommend to keylog the whole remote session and disconnect ethernet cable after the firmware file is copied and back it up before reconnecting to the remote session.

he'll probably stop doing it if he reads that and realises someone could keylog to steal his bosch login
Lol, I doubt he'd turn off the taps to a 1000 euro a day business.

Bosch could sting him very easily. I'm sure he gives no shits.

you are wasting your time because he is using an usb dongle to login through usb gate...

the logon info he uses is probably hidden within your Windows OS registry.

Has anyone had the offer of a 64km/h deristrict for Bosch Smart System from the guy that's doing the US region software update? It's a software based modification, and I'm very tempted but having already had three 542001 errors (from tuning chips) I'm very cautious. The reading on the Speedo would be half of real speed, so it sounds like some further modification of the US software?

I'm keen to find out if anyone has gone for it, and if it's been successful

That sounds impractical, but fun!! You need to change the gearing on your bike to take advantage of that.

i made it to 64 kmh works very well

It's new, I also read about it on the Czech Facebook group, there are even people there who arrange it with the ponald guy and they probably take a commission :D

Bosch definitely knows about it, I hope there is no solution that only updates the flow application and can limit the speed based on the location. They will come up with something. I'm afraid..

But if we dont update or connect to flow app, we are safe right?

I'm fairly happy with the 32km/h for now but it's nice to know the option is there. Wasn't going to get another Bosch bike in the future but now I just might.

Is this new option still compatible with running Flow app? Sometimes I like the navigation on the Kiox display.
But if this basically halves the speed the system sees, then Flow would know something is up compared to GPS?

I might add for anyone still curious, that I have ridden 850 km with the 32km/h flash now, Flow app always connected with GPS enabled and tracking the rides and absolutely no issues.
