LOL the guys at my shop tease me about it "You gonna leave this one alone?"..my answer is always "uh, no why would I do that?"Glad I'm not the only one who buys bikes, strip's then to the frame, drops the motor to feed hoses before even riding the bike![]()
I wish companies would sell bikes just like this. Some do but the price difference is not enough to justify it.Relay replacement has arrived, time to build it up!

Is the motor clunky going down hill like all the YouTubers mention?SX goes pretty good! Working on tuning the motor output for battery life VS. Power output but enjoying it so far! Great bike to keep up with the younger, fitter ladsRunning 170mm Fox 38s ( bringing the HA to 64) and a Float X out back

I did hear it at first but it kinda melted away after a bit, it louder than the Relay for sure but not terrible. Is the motor clunky going down hill like all the YouTubers mention?

Ok, so after a few more rides on the SX, dropping the motor twice and a moment of zen... I have been chasing what I thought was banging cables in the frame turned out to be the SX motor. Yeah it sounds just like loose cables in the frame, now that I know what's making the noise I'm "ok" with it but its defiantly a thing. Is the motor clunky going down hill like all the YouTubers mention?
I'm really really curious, why the SX though when the CX is just better in every way?
I guess that the SX would be lighter, less expensive and more suited for a casual rider at a lower price point. Best for city possibly.
Never ever 4 kgs. What are the weights again? 18ish vs 22ish? That’ll make a big difference in how the bike rides. I’ve done a lot of miles on SX now, it’s great. More punchy than any of the other SL motors, decent range, if you’re out for an all day XC mission or a ride with mates it’s great.
The only times I’d take a CX over SX are for winch/plumet power hour lapping or for towing kids. Towing with a SX is possible, but harder work. Otherwise, take the weigh saving.
2.6kg according to the Transition website. SX XT vs CX XTNever ever 4 kgs.
1 kg difference at the battery and 700 grams at the motor. Not that much.
Honestly for me the rattle would be a deal breaker, otherwise I'm down for lower assist

Per Transitions FB, it’s 2.6kg:
SX - 18.67
CX - 21.31
Isn’t the CX famous for rattling? Although the cables in the down tube on my CX pivot rattle worse than the motor
Yeah the TRPs are one of the reasons I bought the Deore version and swapped out all the parts, seen a lot of those come back to the shop leaking.Been riding the XT CX for a few weeks now,Low with 160/170 travel .
Amazing bike, balanced geo, great suspension, popy feel... Overall very happy with it .
Also, ZERO squeeks from the frame, bike runs very silent and the gen5 motor is very smooth.
Only wish they have specced Mavens instead of Trp pro's, not impressed with them power wise at all.
I have the crestline and the regulator and the main negative on the crestline is the dropper insertion limit. I was doing some steeps today and I thought my dropper was all the way up. Suspension wise, it’s a dream. We can’t have it allI'm a total Transition fan boy and have been patiently awaiting the CX-R version of the Regulator before replacing the Relay. Well, that and for my divorce to be finalized. It REALLY needs a Reach adjust headset as standard.
But I have to admit, the Crestline Spectre has captured my interest, a lot in fact. It's got some cons like the dropper insertion (huge one actually), but some real Pros including frame only, the DJI & Reach adjust.
I was really sold on the mid powers when I bought my Relay, and I don't regret it. It's just I've moved on and technology also marches on. It weighs 45#s with dual coil, dual DH tires, pedals and tools on board, so probably a 49-53# spec in a full power. But I find it a bit annoying that I spend 100% of my time in the highest setting on the Relay and consider the other settings totally useless for my needs. I'd rather ride my pedal bike, a 28# Smuggler (admittedly set up very light and fast) than ride the Relay in the low or mid settings.
Thanks for showing us what you got.
