Hmmm. Article awaiting publishing. What sort of leap are we talking about here? The leap between gen 3 and 4 or is there an update to the Levo gen 4 dropping already?

What, that’s the first time a thread has been generated automatically for me. And it’s for an article that isn't finished yet. Not super convenient :)

THIS IS ADVERTISING !!! The new Levo GEN4 is OLD !!! Heavy and the lateral coverage is very UGLY !!! :sneaky:
I had all the 3 Levo GEN and I try this one, that ok works well on the trails but I try the AMFLOW too and is BETTER !!!
SPECIALIZED should make a KENEVO SL with the new MAHLE motor, maybe I will give my money again ...
But for now I had bought an AMFLOW and I am very satisfied !!
SPECIALIZED should WAKE UP instead of do ADVERTISING !!! (n)

Is this combining Huge and Ugly into a new word ? Seems apt.

Would have been very cool if they'd done a KSL type design with the M40

And a down tube which doesn't look like it was designed for UPS or Fed Ex.

HUGE & UGLY ... YES ! (y)

Dude why are you yelling?

The first Levo S-Works model was so light it made people ask why anyone would buy a weak SL emtb.

Did the SL Category exist in 2015?

Why I am disappointed by Specialized ! After a long wait they present a UGLY bike with very questionable solutions!
I am sorry for those who do not want to hear about AMFLOW but this is the new generation of E-bike to look at.

The DJI motor is the only reason anybody is talking about the AMFLOW, as a bike frame it isn’t ’new generation’.

It’s a Chinese own brand vehicle to launch the DJI Avinox system, that’s it.

People find it boring because the name pops up in every thread about any e-bike, and not everybody is interested in power, there’s more to a bike than its motor at the end of the day, and not everybody uses a bike the same way.

I would never need the Nm/W of an Avinox (or the new Specialized motors for that matter) so it would be pointless for me but I’d like to read about other stuff without all the hype.

I had the gen2 in mind, but that wasn't what I wrote in the opening. Updated.

What you said. Too much logic though for Amflow owners who judge a bike purely on MAX POWER.

Avinox It's not just the power, but how it is managed, especially by the Speed Sensor Ring that acts in a fraction of a second instead of a magnet that acts every turn of the wheel. This means the power has great modulation and very sensitive response. How I climb steep trails with this engine I've never been able to do it with the Levo GEN3, but not just because of the power but because of the traction control that means more grip ! You have to try.
But ok if you don't care, just stay fixed in the past like the lateral coverage of the Levo !! ;)

About the Levo: if they really wanted to made special version with the Sworks they should have made a sporty and more exclusive version, without that UGLY lateral coverage, maybe with an integrated battery, it would have also been lighter!
I would have thought about, but sorry I can't see a laterally open frame in 2025 on a TOP E-BIKE that price !!! :sneaky:

Did think it’s a real shame the new Levo doesn’t include a similar sensor ring.

As I said at the time, the Levo feels like it launched a year too late.

With respect, I don’t think you fully understand how other motors work with regard to modulation.

Sure, you prefer the way the DJI works for you over your old Gen 3, but similar to the Bosch Gen 5 motor in EMTB+ mode that does a similar job without the ring sensor, so does the the Levo Gen 4 motor.

There’s much more going on in a modern EMTB motor than a ‘wheel magnet going round’, they respond to rider input and have incline and cadence sensors amongst other things.

The Avinox is using more than that ring sensor as well.

This is a good example though of how ‘DJI chat’ smothers a thread where it’s not needed.

Exactly this.

Rode the new Levo and cant get the media hype on it.
Heavy,Boring design with a huge downtube, wired remote and the worst thing is again the mediocre (at best) rear suspension .

I bet if it said any other brand on the downtube almost no one would have noticed this bike.

With regard to the Levo - trying to bring this thread back on track...

How about the new Mondraker? Lovely.

Of course it's not the only wheel sensor, I know that very well, but the fact remains that a sensor that reacts in fractions of a second instead of acting every turn of the wheel is a step forward. The new Mahle engine also uses it, and in the future it will be the choice of other brands too, we bet?

But okay, let's talk about the new Levo G4: Can I say that it is a total disappointment ?? NO big leap for me ! :sneaky:
(I have owned all previous Levo models).

I mean you've already mentioned it numerous times in this thread. I'm not sure what posting about it again is going to get you?

It depends what the information is used for really, but it’s not essential obviously, otherwise every e-bike would already have one.

My Bosch SX EMTB gets up stuff my Shimano E8000 can’t even though the latter has more power, my Mahle powered EMTB is different again. I liked the way my old Levo Gen 3 motor worked, very torquey yet natural feeling albeit for some reason it was never first in the queue for me to ride. No fault of the bike though.

If ever a bike needs to be seen in real life it’s the Gen 4 Levo I think, the ones I viewed and threw a leg over at my local Specialized dealer looked and rode very nicely to be fair, but on here unless it’s an Enduro focussed boutique carbon jobbie (with an Avinox) then they don’t get much of a look in.

The stories on here of people out riding with a mate who isn’t on an Amflow who gets left behind on every climb or fire road ascent are also strange. Those ‘rides with a mate’ if true won’t be happening for long….

E-bikes are about riding in case anybody has forgotten! 😂
