Hello guys.

Here is new M510 motor. With dengfu battery case. ;)
So that 110Nm can be true. And possible new FC3.0 controller.

I’d give it a try… Wonder what availability will be like, and how badly software will be screwed up for the foreseeable future. I want to put one of those nice top tube displays on my E82, maybe I’d switch at the same time as doing the motor and get it all done at once.

I wonder if the motor has different internals or if it's just new firmware for it... Seen a abs style speed sensor on a markhor frame that was sent out by mistake hopefully bafang are updating the motor sensor feedback to smooth out the power delivery of the motors, A dynamic mode would be a welcome addition too we can only hope...

You are a brave man. ;)

Shouldnt be that bad. I guess HW the same, and new controller fc3.0 with 22A.

That new speedsensor is a good move. Not sure if would smooth the power delivery. Could help in new auto-hold function.

For smoother power delivery I guess will be new torque sensor. As seen on M560.

I thought it said somewhere that the RS was incorporating some sensors, no? I figured at minimum it would have an improved torque sensor. Surprised they haven’t done an official release yet seeing as Eurobike started today. Must be waiting for a certain day to do it.

Dont know. Maybe g-meter...

Not necessary to purchase this motor to use the HMI

M510RS, a racing-tuned evolution of the proven M510 platform. Designed for eMTB applications where sustained output and fine handling are critical, the 2.9 kg drive unit delivers 110 Nm of peak torque and up to 790 watts of power for 15 minutes, backed by support for cadences up to 120 RPM. Precision is a central theme: Dual sensors and a track-derived control algorithm improve response speed by 33 percent, making every start, stop and acceleration more intuitive. The Sport+ mode adapts power output automatically to terrain and rider load, eliminating the need to toggle between fixed settings. Riders also benefit from new features such as Auto Hold, enhanced walk assist, and connectivity via the DP C030 display, which supports heart rate integration and data sync through the updated Bafang Go app. With an optional external power module for additional devices, the M510RS extends performance into the tech-enabled riding experience.

Starting at the 1:25 mark in this video they talk a little about the RS. New torque sensor and they now have a rotor speed sensor with 42 detection points per rotation. Interested to see how this pans out in some objective reviews, this has the potential to be a solid competitor to some of the best motors out there if they don’t screw up the software.

There was a correct condition in last sentence. ;) This is where Bafang is still failing.
And what was surprise for me when I started with CAN bafangs, they removed some bug from a firmware. And then with even newer firmware that bug was again there. So it is still surprise. And now I am tired of testing firmwares on the road.

They could use a refresh on their batteries too, I’d like to see them come out with something comparable to DJI so frame manufacturers could make some really nice looking bikes like the DJI based bikes. The one in the Kunlun is fairly slim but something to match the DJI form factor would be great.

Yes, the DJI battery is thinner but much longer. It looks good. However, the weight increases the front of the bike. The ideal battery is 600Wh for Amflow, but it has less autonomy.

I have 3 bikes with Bafang M620, 600, 560 v2, and Avinox. I wonder if the M510RS will be as smooth as the Avinox (I'm not talking about the power) because I have a doubt about how Bafang gives the figures.

Looks like Bafang is following Bosch and DJI very closely,

Dual Torque sensor and multiple speed sensor signals, Smart Assistance, Uses torque and cadence sensors for ultra-responsive power delivery, sounds to me very much like DJI Avinox, same solution on the disc rotor mount.

Disc speed sensor is great as you can further modulate motor power even according rear wheel, when slips. I think all the manufacturers will have it soon or later.

Also will be easy to change the speed limit. You just buy a disc with half the holes. :)

Maybe this could be retrofitted to the original M510? M510 RS has new torque sensor and FC Controller, everything else should be the same, hopefully original M510 Could be upgraded to a M510 RS ?

Cheers,
Caio

That would be a lot of work to retrofit, you’d be looking at a new torque sensor, possibly new cadence sensor, and new controller. You’re pretty much building a new motor at that point aren’t you?

It’s crazy how bad they are with product information. They just announced what should be their new flagship motor for eMTB use and it’s nowhere to be seen on their website, no formal press release or release on their own news page. Crazy how they actually make pretty good products and could seemingly compete in the mainstream market but just can’t get their act together for some of the basics. I can’t imagine dealing with them as a bike manufacturer is much better than we DIY consumers get.

Could be these new fc3 controllers will come just with disc speed.
Yes, also that new torque sensor with better pas resolution.

I guess will be doable to put it into M510 Fc2.x ;)

I'm wait impatiently the beta tester ;) . Unfortunately it will be necessary to wait +- 1 year to have possibility to purchase spare after 510RS availability 😭.

unless that somebody purchase one to dismantel and try to install his controller and the torque sensor on M510  ?

On their site you have M510 110Nm 790W max (21A). i think that they provide better servicies to the manufacturer.

Their bigest mistake is that they not to know the final customers. They don't provide at less the software upgrades and communicate on their improvement. A mistake that everyone Bafang wants to compete with has always carefully avoided.

As far as I know, there is already version 3.0 on the market, which I believe will be the same as the RS and already comes with sensors and a new controller, lacking the RS software, which I imagine will be able to be installed when it comes out on the market.

you have one ? can you compare with rev 2 ? which software it using ?

I don't have it, but my friend from China sells them along with the CEF69 frames and 835wh batteries. Tomorrow I'll ask her.

We will be distributors of the SZZSbike brand with the CEF50-55-69 frames in Spain.IMG_8044.jpeg IMG_7724.jpeg IMG_7676.jpeg

Yep, also new firmware 10.4 and different firmware boot code. Have this firmware already.
I guess will be possible to flash also into FC2.1, question is if this firmware is only for new speed disc. I can try.

Hi, I don't think it's due to the new punctured discs because I got a quote from Jean from Szsz and the speed sensor is the same as my Cef50

Wont take it. This new firmware has new boot code (but can be tricked, controller should work. But saw already some starnge things like wrong voltage calibration or temperature).

As was written, this firmware is for new speed disc. So wont be working with single magnet. And is problem to put this new speed disc to old frames, so we running again to problems. But I can add to BBR Ultimate a function which will be simulating new speed disc from single magnet.

Does than new speed disc speed sensor send the same signal on the same pins as the old magnet sensor? I mean can I safely connect the old CANBUS Bafang motor to this sensor? Can it damage something on the motor controller, or can it be damaged by old Bafang motor, or it will just read wrong speed and nothing really bad will happen?
