Hi everyone

For any Orange bike owners/lovers out there…..
I overheard (off the cuff) a few days ago ff Bosch powered Patriots are all sold out and no longer produced and word is DONT rule out a future replacement model having the DJI motor fitted.
You may be aware just how quickly Orange can “knock up” prototypes as test mules and who knows if such a rig is currently being tested?
Remember how the design team behind Unno changed from Bosch to DJI with the new Mith and probably secured an ever greater demand for their product.
Going DJI for Orange could be a game changer for their sales figures in future and be a massive step forward as they move on from their administration period.
Hopefully exciting times ahead.

Like putting smart video door bell at the bottom of your tree house!

(I kid, I actually like some of their range)

Sorry. I'm not a fan. But I'm sure they are a decent bike. I'm just happy to see Shimano and Bosch needing to sharpen their pencils and start innovating, or get left behind, as bicycle manufacturers get more advanced, but reliable motor options.

My Orange Alpine 160 with CCDB is one of the best riding and handling bikes I’ve every owned or ridden.

Never owned or ridden one. As I said. I'm sure they ride very well. It's just all those welded pieces, with all those exposed welds, makes them look like an old home built bicycle that someone knocked up in their garage.

Compare that to a modern carbon frame, which looks very sleek. But we all have different tastes.

They’ve made some of the most iconic mountain bikes over the decades, they have a heritage that a lot of bike companies can only dream of.

They were making interesting looking full suspension bikes out of alloy long before Pole even thought about getting out of bed.

It sounds positive they’ve got another full suspension EMTB coming with a decent motor, but they do make some very fine non-EMTBs as well so not all their eggs are in one basket at least.

Well said bro.
While I respect that we all find beauty in things differently,Orange always seem to divide opinion looks wise more than other brands.
Indeed I find the (futuristic?)UNNO Mith a bit of a weird looking mofo-just my opinion. And good luck there if things go bottom up trying to get that repaired at your lbs 😳
If people took time to notice, those “ugly” welds on Orange full suss frames are actually UNDER the tubing and when you’re on board the view is just the same as virtually any other emtb out there ie a long top tube,
beefy down tube and whatever components are fitted to the front end.Its still just a bike after all.
Why am I explaining this????🤔
While other models might boast fancy carbon frames, how many will end up as landfill after a few careless rocky/boulder filled crashes?
There’s something about how an Orange feels-a visceral connection which can’t be explained that makes them different from the pack, and they they still laugh in the face of all the multi linkaged clones out there after all those years.
As others have said elsewhere you either “get it” or don’t.
Definitely function over form bikes for all conditions mountain biking that got my hard earned, and will also be another to add in future if they get a DJI motor.👍

Interesting, I got some ‘tie fighter’ vibes when I was looking at that! 😂

Got to love a made in Yorkshire bike, good luck to them, they have their fans and will sell plenty I think. 👍

It wouldn't be an Orange if it woudn't been able to scare kids when it shows it face. Not sure what these guys are trying at Orange, but hands down, this is looking ehm..... .

For sure they don't want to loose the uglies bike award each year.

In addition to being hideous, I can't imagine why anyone would risk buying an Orange bike after the Alex Anderson story:

Same thing happened to Bernard Kerr on a Pivot, should we boycott those too?
You wouldn't be able to, considering Kerr's bike was famously a prototype, whereas the Snapierre was a retail bike. Are you Guy Kesteven?

I mean one was a carbon/alloy bonded prototype the other was a welded alloy production bike available to the masses. Not that I am a big fan of Pivot but the situations are slightly different.

Ok, from this very forum.

Boycott Orbea?

Cheeky suggestion you might be a member of the Yorkshire republican army. ;) Orange are weird, they've stuck with a patently outdated design philosophy all the way to bankruptcy, relying on a dwindling band of hardcore fans. But any bike can break if it's abused hard enough, there's been loads of examples in here over the years, boycotting is a bit knee jerk on a single incident but reasonable if you see a pattern emerging. Canyon went through a spell of dodgy frames & tone deaf responses to the point that sales fell enough for the CEO to get involved & make promises to do better.

The Pivot thing was just a poor comparison, it was an iteration of a pre production bike, given to a handful of factory riders that was unlucky enough to come unstuck in the full glare of the mtb world but isn't representative of Pivot bikes as a whole in the slightest.
