Went to the dealer today. They had S-Works in the red color, a Comp in the rosé-champagne tone and a Pro in Gloss Metallic Obsidian. The latter will be my choice - looks great in the color in my opinion, unfortunately only in S3 in the store. So I ordered one today in S4, should be at my dealer within 4-6 weeks.
Yes, the down tube is really fat. Next to it was a Santa Cruz Vala, which also doesn't have a discreet down tube, but looked a bit sportier. In my opinion, the design of the Levo 4 has become more “well-behaved” and could be a little more wild regarding colours and labels in my opinion. The motor looks pleasingly slim, especially to the old one and also compared to the Bosch. The integration is well done. In terms of function, I also have confidence, as it is robustly built and trimmed for durability. In addition, Speci is generally known for its goodwill, so I take the risk to be one of the early adopters.
All in all, the Gen 4 characteristics are great for many use cases (for me: especially the Alps and Lake Garda in northern Italy) with the flexibility offered by the overall package. Rear suspension performance should be between Vala and Bullit. I will throw it at fast, technical trails in the aforementioned terrain with long climbs. I think it offers the right mix of performance, geo-flexibility and range. For me, I would set the geo to chainstays in the long position, shock -6mm and steering angle flat.
I have a Gen 1 from 2018 (Expert Carbon) that wants to be replaced - still with the 1st motor, by the way, probably lucky. So this time I can go all in for the Pro, even if I'm broke now, of course...
