Agree, but that's exactly what's the problem with new bikes, first throw out not a small amount of dollar for a new entry model, then swap out two of the most expensive parts that combined most probably reach a third of the initial bike price, just to get the weight down.Put a new 36 on ... I like to think I'm pretty sharp on feeling (obviously this is all in my head ) but these days I can't tell the difference with riding with or without my water bottle. (If you discount the desire ride past a bar part way through the ride).yep. that's meI can feel slight difference between 700Wh and 500 in my levo.
and 600Wh in G4 is shorter and the weight even lower - more noticable.

So there is really no point for this bike to be lighter, in the end it wont be able to compete with two bike mentioned above and it just lost its advantages.
Too heavy for you? Well, Specialized had a bike on display at the launch with the 600Wh battery, trail casing tyres, lighter trail brakes, and a weight-conscious build still suitable for hard riding, and it tipped the scales at 19.5kg. As the S-Works Turbo Levo is also available as a frameset, this is something anyone could do… with enough cash!

Question if you have the S works, what is the phenom pro saddle like? I’m tempted to buy oneI’m kind of surprised by some of these comments. I don’t know what people expect. While this bike is more of an evolution than revolution, it is very different from all the other Levos. More so than any generation of Levo.
This new chassis is way better than the other 3 generations. Not only is it stiffer and stronger, it’s incredibly adjustable. Now you have the ability to adjust the head tube angle, BB height and stay length by 9mm. Out of the box the gen4 feels like a stumpy or gen2 SL, which is a good thing but if you want a more DH oriented bike you can make it substantially longer and slacker too. I think that a 29” rear wheel would fit with the bike in the longer setting. Who knows why that’s not an option. Those saying that the weight of the bike sits higher up in the chassis have obviously never removed a battery from a Gen3. The old battery is at least 30% longer and sat higher in the frame because of the size of the old motor. That’s probably why the new downtube and battery are so fat….that and the fact that the system is 48v.
What is game changing is the fact that the drive system is 48V. That in itself is probably the biggest change to the bike. The higher the voltage the more efficient electricity is. This new system is going to run cooler, be more efficient, and make gobs more torque. It’s better in every way except that the battery requires more cells….which is probably why the battery is so thick.
The one thing that kept people from buying a Levo in the past, the motors belt system, is gone and people are complaining about that too! I haven’t been able to hear the rattle yet that the new motor has. It very well may be there but it’s not like the clunking of the older ep8s or the less annoying sounds the older Bosch units made. I have a Gen4 SWorks and have ridden it.
I’m hearing a lot complaints about the price….its cheaper than the Gen3. The people complaining about the price will have to reconcile that somehow. You’re getting more and paying less.
On the flip side, if you have a nicer gen3 bike you could probably hold on to it a while longer. It’s still among the best bikes that you can get. The new one does do everything better but it’s likely not going to get you down the mountain much faster, if at all. So to be fair I’m returning to the statement that this new bike is more evolution than revolution.

flowmountainbike weighted with extender only and it is 20.88 kg, put 36 fork and lighter tires and it probably gets around 20kg with pedals. its not possible to make it 19.6kg with 600wh battery, there is a mistake in MBR article
They really are missing a trick here,losing customers is not a good one ,like me,lots of people just do not like mullets.No...
yeah I agree, really can't see any reason for someone to make this bike lighter, previously I thought that it might be a good option to buy this bike with 600wh battery in stock but now as it grew on me I don't think that I would do that. Spend 15k .. buy a fox 36 to make my bike LESS capable .. stick on crappy tyres to make it less capable .. and only run it with a range extender ..

OK, it's great to have flexibility and in the past we had less choice. But not you can buy a far better bike that's more capable stock for less money .. so WHY ? LOOK I SPENT SH!T LOADS AND HAD LESS ! WOW ! ITS SO COOL.

Dude, I’m not sure about the saddle names but I have quite a few bikes and they all have the 3d printed pro power with mirror “whatever” saddles and while they are outrageously expense, they are worth every penny. Those new saddles are so comfortable! I was really happy that the bike came with one. I’d recommend getting one but not the sworks version. The extra $200 isn’t worth the weight savings and the level of comfort is exactly the same.Question if you have the S works, what is the phenom pro saddle like? I’m tempted to buy one
Not at all. Now we have 12 levels of adjustment, on the Gen 3 only 6I mean, the Gen 3 had all those geo adjustments also. It's not new.

I like your line of thinking, I was thinking the same thing, but after seeing your math, 3mm is not enough clearance. Between the tire deforming under load and debris getting caught, that sounds way too tight.Maybe a 29 could fit for just 3 mm less

Likely all part of the deal/decision. "We will have more success in the market if we are not trying to in anyway compete with our customers." It will be interesting to see 'the company that shall not be named' and DJI handle this going forward as more mfg's use the DJI motor.Yamaha had to have really good insider information to pull out of the American market on time and at the same time buying Brose.
I believe it was in the Loam Wolf video that the Specialized rep mentions when 600w battery will be available. I can't recall for sure, but I think it was May. The point being, they can't offer an option today that isn't available for whatever reason. History of course leads us to believe that they will use battery size as a function of the level of bike spec and therefore to justify price.Yep, that would be a reasonable thing to do, but for sales probably not so much...who knows what they are thinking.
From my experience with an 811Wh pack with similar cells they use here, this is way more than enough for 95% of ride needs. I think most that will buy the bike will actually realize that as time passes.
Edit: Although if taking the higher power avaliable into consideration, that most will probably use, 840Wh might just be fine.![]()
