But the old bike is killing me ..... Literally. Today, the motor hooked up badly when I dropped off a big tree root, hurtling me over the bars. Thankfully I'm a really good at controlling my falls, and I tucked and rolled, doing no damage other than creases in my helmet.

It's so hard going from a really capable EMTB to an older one with much less capability. I just keep forgetting the bikes limits.

Sun gives way to slop
All good fun at chopwell

Should that be Slopwell rather than Chopwell? :)

Also what is he doing behind the tree? A crafty wee wee, perhaps? Just looking where his arm/hand is...
So if it's a bloke I'm a wee bit concerned , sitting down to pee with his trousers still on 🤔 .

Yeah it gets called slopwell up here in the winter 😉
hasn’t been too bad this winter but yesterday was bit manky to say the least make me A better rider for the summer enduring all this winter stuff

think he was eating a mars bar or summit 😂

That is what the Yanks call a garage!
Other call it a park with the biggest collection of nudity but I stopped by the main gate.

Where’s that mate ?
Humford woods
You can peddle from Bedlington station through the woods
All the way to Hartford hall nice little peddle for me from halfway 😉
Pat the dam it gets a bit rougher and sloppier
But a nice ride all the same if a little short

Palm Canyon Epic. It starts up in the clouds behind us in the picture. It's about 25 miles of mostly black diamond single track winding through the wilderness inhabited by big horn sheep, rattle snakes, needle sharp jumping cactus, hostile Indians (I'm not kidding), and ending in Palm Springs where all the fancy pants celebrities play golf and work on their tans while lounging by the pool.

That ride has been on my to do list for a while. How was it?

It's GRRRRREAT. Hella fun. The scenery is magnificent, and the trail is in good condition. After the rain, it's spectacular. And the wildflowers will start blooming soon. You'll be in the wilderness and there's some exposure, so it's for riders with a bit of experience. Bring a tube, tools, nutrition, and water. It's a long walk out and no one is coming to save you. I want to hit it at least one more time before it gets hot.

After a stressful day in the Yorkshire Dales with bike issues but managed to navigate Bunton Hush in one piece I decided somewhat late on yesterday afternoon to head for the hills to test bike repair only to be struck down with Acute severe Rioja Fever so decided to peddle along the coast from mine to Amble. Good choice as the beach’s looked stunning in early morning sunshine. IMG_9506.jpegIMG_9507.jpeg
QE II Park north of Ashington, a reclaimed slurry pit from the defunct
Colliery.

Here’s one for our Southern Hemisphere members…..a Eucalyptus Grove outside Woodhorn Village. Apparently this was planted to provide a source of oil for company that closed years ago.
The views along the coast to Coquet Island and Amble were stunning. IMG_9509.jpegIMG_9510.jpeg
