I got the bike 2 weeks ago and have about 6 rides on it so far. Loving the stock components, don't feel like I need to change anything except maybe a longer dropper post at some point.

I did manage to hit the motor cover on some rocks and it flew off.. is it a generic motor cover for bosch or specific one for Cube?
Its just a piece of plastic so I'm wondering if there are some better after market motor covers.

I lost a cover on an earlier model Cube and it was a pain in the arse getting a replacement. I now have a Velcro strap holding it in place

I know the chain is dirty but was no different when deep cleaned after this ride..but I’m Unfamiliar with recent shimano drives but this was the sound of the chain in the 4th largest cogs,all indexed fine but I had too take a full turn off the clutch and wind out the b screw 2 turns..now a lot quieter but still nosier than any sram off previous bikes..

I'm on a size L (475 reach) with a 40mm stem, I'm 1m78 tall. Longest bike I've ever owned, buy only by 5mm, feels good.

The stack is quite high on the bike, probably due to the headset. I have +40mm bars and am finding them taller than when I had them on my previous bike with a 180mm fork.

I’m as tall as you and I ordered size M. The reason is I already have bikes that are like freight trains on the trail, I’d like this one to be a bit nimbler. Let’s see how it goes

Newmen wheels suck,get some built with hope hubs,your bike will thank you for it!

Why so? I mean, any specific reason? Rims made of spaghetti? Hubs? I was talking with my wheel specialist if I should replace the newmen wheels immediately, but I’ll try them at least. Hubs will be from Onyx racing, rims probably DT Swiss fr541.

Newmen rims have a history of cracking inside,and they are just not a strong wheel,FR541 rims are bombproof,paired with some hope. Hubs this what i have on my cube,i immediately junked the newmens they just dont feel a quality wheel.

Ok, thanks for the info I’ve never had newmen before, and typically original rims shipped with a bike aren’t necessarily the best quality.

The first thing to be cost cutted on is the wheels,then forks,but saying that,give them a go,see how you get on with them,my wheels were £500,hand built by a specialist,hope hubs with DTswiss FR 541 rims,worth the money imo,and mainly used in wales,so they have had some punishment ,never let me down,also,its nice having hand built wheels to spec,especially if its the wheel builder that specced them.

I'm 178cm and I ride a medium.
Feels good to me. Don't think I'd like a longer bike, but I usually stick to M bikes.

so opened the rear shock up yesterday and for me anyway there was no air volume tokens fitted from oe,as I’ve been bottoming out more than I’d liked I fitted first the 0.6” token but then after a ride out swapped to the 0.4”,with 30% sag for me riding weight 88kg its was super plush but even after the drop off I was bottoming out on I still had around 10% of travel left and the landing felt loads better,also have 4 tokens now in the rhythm fork now but running 23% ish sag and its made it a lot plusher on the top but with good middle support.

I have a major creaking sound coming from the motor area, it happens when I lean the bike into corners, but the bike is quiet when bunnyhopping. I checked all the suspension bolts when I got back to the car, they all seem tight. I had checked the motor ones 2 weeks ago. Anyone had any creaking they managed to resolve?

I'm usually not that bothered by a small creak, but this is loud enough that I'm worried something could be getting worn out. I'll do a proper check over the weekend, but interested incase anyone found a specific bolt they needed to torque or put thread lock on, or an axle that needed greasing.

Yes I had a loud creak when pedalling hard or cornering fast.for me it was shock fixing to the yoke..didn’t mater if I greased the inside of the yoke used carbon paste it would creak at 10-14 nm tight..so I’m running mine with carbon grip paste(even though alloy) at 8nm with plenty of thread lock on the bolt and it’s been silent.

Cheers! That could make sense as I changed the rear shock and that's roughly when the creaking appeared. I'll give it a try.

First impression: quite ok wheels aren’t convincing, probably the first upgrade, and the brake discs. 150mm dropper is also a little short, that’s has to go as well. Maybe I’ll replace it with 180mm oneup dropper.

But let’s see how it rides once the rain stops and trails dry a bit.

Newmen wheels are bad,i had dt swiss fr541,s with hope hubs built,much better,and stick some magura rotors on it,i found my 150 dropper just fine,then again iam 5 9”
be wary of acid cranks too,mine decided to strip their threads after three months,bought another set,they did the same!
i have e thirteen cranks on mine now,no problems with them at all

You have some kms on it, what is your opinion as a do it all bike? To heavy and draggy after motor cutoff? I tried a reign+ and hard to pedal above 25km/h.

Do it all bike? You mean like touring, commuting and occasional trail riding? IMO get something else. I just came back from my first ride with the cube. For urban environment you can definitely find something better, this one belongs to the trails.

Sry wasnt clear.
Do it all mtb/trail bike. Not for 100kms rides but if is fun on more mellow recovery/zone 2 rides as well as a good bike to lap descents.

I'm loving this thread. Thanks for the incredible detail @Rando_12345 .

I just had delivery of mine last weekend and went out for a "gentle" shakedown and got carried away (37km, 1k elev and 40% battery left!). My first ride in over a year and hit 1 pr and multiple bronze records. But I also had lots of pedal strikes and I thought it was because I was out of practice, but this experience aligned with this thread... makes me feel a little better about myself!

Similar experience setting up suspension. Despite accurate initial setup the rear was too soft so will need more air, front only using 80% of travel. Lovely silent ride. Tonnes of grip. Lovely to jump.

Can't wait for my next ride.

Get a longer valve,its on the valve for a reason.

Mine lives in wales and gets everything thrown at it,got shorter cranks for it,never had any issues to speak of,great bike.

The problem is more the fact that the nut that is supposed to go against the wheel is quite big, the magnet cannot rest over the wheel, its bases are too short. I quickly looked for a new valve and they all look to have that big nut. So I wondered what solutions people use to solve this

Can you not put the valve nut on top of the rim magnet?

I had to buy ugly and expensive 60mm valves, and now have some very expensive reserve fillmores sitting on my garage shelf, not terribly happy about this.

Surely a spoke magnet could work, but it might need a specific shape to get closer to the rim and would block the spoke nipple.

I´m putting an order to the 177 slx. Considering if I retrofit the 400 purion or if I wait for the new/futur display . Wondering if it is going to have added funtionalities (for ex fine tunning supports levels or other directly) or is goint to be "only" a more fancy display. Opinions?
