Vitus E-Mythique LT Enduro EMTB - Bargain of the year

although I always frown when I see an XT60 connector
There are several XT60 connectors throughout the bike. Even one built into the M510 motor. They seem to be pretty reliable. My son has a ton of them on RC cars that get beat to death and we've never had a problem with them.

Yes, good for RC stuff, they’re my most used connector on my flying and driving models, but the only place I’ve seen them on e-bikes is on conversion kits and Chinese batteries.

I think at the least they should use something a bit more long term moisture resistant given it’s a bicycle and will be exposed to weather, condensation and movement etc.

Just for kicks I removed everything from the battery case a weighed it. Looks like you can shave over 2.6kgs. I popped it back in the bike just to make sure everything would fit. Would be a nice shuttle option.

Been using them for over 10 years on various EBikes and never had to change a single one nor had a problem with them. Get the anti spark versions XT60 & XT90 With Spark Arrestors : Why You Should Make The Switch if you can but to be honest I have had the standard versions and remove my battery to recharge every time without a problem.

I'm currently fixing the 13th E-Mythique for an owner who's travelled far to get this bike working.

Withn 30sec of using the Besst Tool, it explained that the motor's controller had failed.

Unfortunately, this person had already purchased a new display and battery totalling £400 (which is around the same price as a new motor).

The look on the owner's face when I showed him that the motor was the problem, he looked like his heart had just sank.

Thankfully, a new controller and new motor are on the way. So (as always), I'll get this chap back out on the trails...one way or another.

To add context to this particular bike, this is what the owner told me,
"He had ridden the bike up Lake District. It was a muddy day. He had washed the bike. And after wiping it down/drying it, inserted the battery. He heard a spark once the battery was fully seated into the frame. He immediately thought "that didn't sound good". He attempted to turn the bike. Nothing happened. He unplugged and replugged the display. The bike didn't turn on. He removed the battery and checked if the battery was on. The battery showed a green light indicating that it had charge. He repeated the steps of plugging connectors and battery. The bike still wouldn't turn on. He then opted to buy a new display a week later. The bike still wouldn't turn on. He then saw the batteries being advertised on Ebay and bought another one. THE BIKE STILL WOULDN'T TURN ON!!!"

By now, I'm sure the above story for E-Mythique owners may sound familiar. I won't lie, the story continues as the owner even contacted Bafang directly. Spoiler alert, they didn't help him. Despite having a genuine receipt confirming that he is the original owner and the bike isn't 2 years old.

So for any of you who spot these ebikes on the second hand market, be warned. For you will have to treat this bike no different than a diy ebike. And know how Bafang works. Otherwise, be prepared to spend more than what the bike cost initially.

Rant over

FYI.
If you ever find yourself not being able to turn the E-Mythique on, try removing the battery. Then whilst holding the power on button on the remote, insert the battery.
Provided the display isn't the culprit, you should be able to force start the bike.
Just remember to bring the key in any circumstance👍🏿
Hi Neeko, had to do this to my E-Mythique today, it wouldn't turn on from the button, but doing this powered it up. Any idea what's up with it? Fried controller maybe?

has the modding scene started for these yet?
Yes, put a coil shock on mine. And revolved the damper in the forks to get it working better.
It would be nice if the motor worked though🤣.
But I don't think they are significantly worse than other motors for breaking, my friend went through four Bosch motors on his last bike.

oof what you gonna do with no warranty? fix it yourself? well i kinda meant changing up bafang motors/batterys lol

would this not be everything needed to fix one of these?

Hello,

Keeping an eye on Vitus product, i wonder if there's a chance for them to release a Dji version of their EMTB ? They seem to master aluminium frames, and i hardly imagine a better budget EMTB than a Vitus frame, Dji system and newest SR fork / shock (ofc full 29", eventually with Mx option)

Vitus are defunct since parent company CRC when under AFAIK.

Hello everyone.

I have question that has anybody to know method to balance battery cells, without removing battery cover? I have had couple of charges that has been stop when reaching level 96%, not fully 100%. And, seems that cell number 10 has little bit less mV (~50mV) than other when viewing through battery information.

I'm pretty sure the BMS is built in and should balance the cells itself. If not maybe there is a problem with it. I posted some pics of the battery in another thread that shows the BMS and wiring.

My daughters bike lost the battery release knob. While removing the battery with pliers I damaged the square drive the knob mounts to. I ordered a new upper battery mount. It seems they redesigned the knob and it is now cast aluminum. Its a nice beefy knob. The downside to the big beefy knob is the fact it no longer clears a Zeb fork. It will contact the fork if rotated around.

I just removed the knob for now.

*Edit, the frame is a Small, I'm pretty confident any other size will clear.
