When I worked as a North Sea Tiger and I came home , i went out in atrocious weather on bike . Can remember folk shaking their heads at me. Now I'm retired I pick my days a wee bit better. I'm a Pussycat now but folks still shake there heads.

I don’t really ride in the winter anymore, I’m just over coming home covered in mud. I’ve lived in Scotland for a little over 4 years now and this year has been the worst for me though. The vitamin D deficiency thing is no joke! I’ve developed alopecia areata, my head looks like a damn patchwork quilt right now. My GP did some blood work and my vitamin D levels were at 12ng/ml, basically so low that I’ve have to get shots along with a prescription strength supplement and have bloods drawn once a week for monitoring until it gets back to normal levels.
Reminds me of an old joke: When dancing close with my partner I often feel a bottle in his pants. Is he having a drinking problem?

I kinda agree
. I either check the weather forecast or crack the door open a little for a look. Then I decide what to wear.
Winter boots, gloves, balaclava, layers and clear riding glasses. A backpack to carry the shedded layers.
The problem is the water on the glasses. Have to occasionally stop and wipe those off when I get slapped with a low snowy branch, or if it’s raining camels and bears
. Need to find a dry spot on my body (not the budgie smugglers) which can be difficult. 
But I look forward to returning home and roasting chestnuts by the fireplace

Yeah, I know it's at thing. I've felt it myself in the past. When the sun doesn't rise until 7 a.m. and it sets at 5 p.m., there's hardly enough time to get in all the things you want to do. And some of the days the temps don't climb out of the 50's. Yikes! Mornings like those really make you want to wear long pants.
Luckily, I'm far enough south that I rarely spiral into such deep depression that I compare my sexy underwear with other riders on the forums. But I do sleep in later and don't go out to ride until it warms up.
Yesterday I didn't start riding until 9:30, and I still had to wear long pants. But I boldly went with short sleeves, and it turned out to be the best choice. It was warm in the sun, and a little chilly in the shade.
What are short pants ?.
Funnily enough there was an ad a few years ago here in NZ about when it's appropriate to wear a budgie...

And of course my local trail centre has a trail called Togs, Togs, Undies.

7mm wetsuit is what I would use
I’d want to colour coordinate with my bike …I’ll order a red one.
Bugger that! Drysuit for me in anything other than the Red Sea in summer.
I worked on a dive boat in the Red sea one of them asked for my overalls to dive in , a wetsuit must have been too warm ????

Rash vest and board shorts was enough for me from May to October. In late Jan/early Feb I wore a membrane drysuit with a thin wicking baselayer.
Would have been June I was there. Happy diving
When active on the surface it may be fine, Diving is a different story as the body is cooling down more. Warm 28C when diving in 60ft water wearing short wet suit became pretty chilly after a while. To my surprise as being used to waterski and windsurf in semi-dry suits below 10C.
That lads were commercial divers I can't remember the depth though. Probably only air diving for 30 minutes , there could have been sat divers as well at a deeper depth . 2004 I'm talking about so memory fades . Maybe he had something else on I just remember big Sam Hall asking if I had a pair of spare overalls.
