Afternoon all,

I’ve been out the game for some 10 years since a big off and never got round to getting back on the bike.

I’ve been out testing the old injury on my brothers Ransom and it feels good, can’t believe how far things have come since the big hit days.

With so many emtbs on the market it’s a little overwhelming with so many reviews on which ones to consider.

Copying my brother and getting a ransom is likely a no as he’s on his second frame now, which was an absolute headache to get replaced.
I have Berkshire cycles less than a mile from me which is a specialized main dealer, but the look of the gen 4 Levo is putting me off, a mate of mines gen 3 comp alloy is much nicer in my opinion.

So just after some advice/personal experiences with your choice of emtb.

Cheers

How much are you looking to spend and what type of riding are you after?

The kind of default choice right now if you don't have any brand loyalty and/or no specific preference on design or use case is to get an Amflow that suits your budget.

They offer great value with the most modern motor on the market. The frames are a tad generic looking (and I say that as an Amflow owner) but perfectly good quality and they are modern enough design and geo, just not really 'pushing' anything aesthetics wise. (and if you really want cutting edge trendy geo you'd need to go elsewhere.)

And then I'd go up/down from there depending on what your budget, usages and aesthetic choice takes you. Other brands use their motor, but come at increased cost for more boutique brands.

Specialized makes good bikes and provides good service. Being conveniently located is a big plus.

Plenty great options right now. It’s an exciting time and enjoy the buying process. It’s a lot of money so try to demo some bikes. Maybe try to demo the levo from that dealer for a day. The levo is a good bike and since you got the dealer right there it is a solid choice. What else do the dealers near you carry?

You’ll see us bantering about motors and crap on here but the reality is they’re all amazing right now. You can’t go wrong with Bosch, specialized, or Avinox.

This.

Almost any modern bike will be amazing compared to what you remember. Spesh are great bikes with the best local support system if you have any issues. The Levo 4 is a fine bike with many adjustments to make it ride any way you like. Yes it has a fat downtube, who cares. It also has a big removeable battery, smaller battery option, in-frame storage, range extension and all the stuff owners of "pretty" bikes wish they had. They also cut prices recently to where they are now very price competitive (a first!).

Norco could cover it to be decent starting point. Offering to the Norco's Sight, there are 2 versions, one using the 4 bar suspension only in Alloy frame.

The second Sight vlt version using the 4 bar mid high pivot in carbon frame each 160mm 150mm with Bosch motors.
Check out Norco!

High Rock Ruti

Just ordered the new Pivot Amped $12K, 3 1/2 (Piermont Bikes upstate NY) hours away, but the local shop JRA Cycles outside of Boston (great shop). I'd save money if you're just getting back, a used Amflow would be my suggestion. Under commit until you're sure your back for good.

Welcome back, two words "body armor"

Looking cool is riding all the time

Warm Regards Ruti

cheers for the replies.
I went and sat on the Levo 4 comp, it doesn’t look quite as bulky as it does in the pictures. I would like to say my budgets around the comp pricing.

What I can not quite make sense of is one Levo comp is £5499 and the other being £5999.
I can only see the forks being different?
Is the fox sus really worth the extra vs the travel of the zeb

The Comp is 6799 and the Comp alloy is 5499. Not sure what you are looking at 5999.
