TBF i think that's on you not them. They sold you the bike, what you did in terms of upgrades is in your court
I’d approach them in a constructive manner and propose deducting the RRP for the deleted items and add back the RRP for the replacement…… and then apply their buy back formula…..it’s worth a try Canyon are attempting to manage a nightmare situation, protect their reputation and market share…… it won’t hurt to ask nicely.
 
To those who got offered a buyback: did Canyon not offer a new battery concept after a necessary design and production period? Or is designing and producing a new battery within a reasonable time unrealistic?
 
Well, had the bike invisi wrapped, guess i will lose out on the cost of that. Least i can remove the one up bars, pinnd cranks, cushcore inserts and DMR pedals.
 
I think the newer batteries which are designed to work with the ep801 were not on the affected list so maybe they may offer replacement motors that work with the unaffected batteries that are not on the recall list? Speculating
 
On the buy back post that one user kindly posted, they did say wait for communication before making a decision

My bike had the same ep801 and 004 battery combination, but had hairline crack around the threaded inserts it had approx 800 miles.

Options for Canyon

No fix & buy back only- unlikely
New battery & extended wait - strong possibility
Front triangle redesign to accommodate stock shimano external battery like previous bike version… long delay and service centre for bike rebuild - only if battery redesign impossible - unlikely
Reduced capacity battery to allow for a more robust case, likely outcome which would detract from the Canyon USP of having large capacities - likely

I'm pretty sure there are batteries that are not on the list so it may just be a replacement newer battery for you? I can't see what else they can do other than offer a buy back but clearly they have another solution which can only be replacing at risk batteries with "safe units". Those with older models (me) may get offered a new motor that works with the battery management systems of unaffected batteries. Looks like we will know from German members tomorrow afternoon 😀
 
Regardless of age, of bikes its sh#t. Bikes arent cheap and its our hard earned cash sitting in a garage, hanging onto hope that they do the right thing, wheather its buy back or replace the batteries. As you said, maybe they replace motors on older bikes and supply a safe new battery for yourself and others. Hopefully we all get a satisfactory resolution.

sorta same with mine (number4 battery if it means anything?), rode ~200 miles from late july then the dreadded email occured:eek:

Probably a stupid question, but is there anybody out there that owns a torque and other bikes that have batteries that arent affected by thw recall BT001 to BT 004
 
I have to say the Buyback is a bit of a red herring deal and id not fall into the trap of thinking it's a good deal.

Frankly if they are not providing a replacement solution in good time then they should be offering full refund, credit or replacement.

A user having to spend money to get an equivalent bike that works it's not acceptable even if it's a few years old or used.

I would be pushing for equivalent credit to replace it as even if your getting a new for older bike it's not your problem.

not yet, i thought i read on the 8th were supposed to get more information from canyon

my buddy was approved for return of both his spectral ons. He bitched because his CFR with di2 cant shift without a battery, so they said your approved and that department will be getting ahold of you soon.
 
those of us who have change components
220 rotors, di2, industry9 stem, cf bars, lucky i have the old parts.

I cant see them shipping us return boxing with pre paid postage. Should just be a refund and you are responsible for the bikes disposal.
 
Same boat, one up carbon bars, pinnd cranks, Dmr vault pedals and cushcore inserts, which were an absolute bast#rd to fit. Wont get the invisi wrap back..... fortunately have the original kit in a box.

Agree and when I challenged them on that I got no further response.
 
ABsolutely raging, the longer this issue goes on, the more money im losing. I have a levo 1.2 sl that i was going to sell, but looks like im going to have to keep it untill there is a decision made. In a better position, i guess than others on here where there Canyon is there primary bike. As for there response to Dcl74, not exactly confidence inspiring. Canyon need to pull there finger out and bite the bullet, just be honest and open about exactly what they are going to do, rather than let us all hang onto what little hope we have of a satisfactory resolution.
 
Hi Guys,

Im following my previous post. 2 weeks ago I reached Canyon via online form, asking for a full refund of a bike price and shipping costs (both directions) plus additional parts (fender).
They replied in 10 hours with a consent for my proposal.
They ordered DHL to pickup bike, it is supposed to be tomorrow.
I'll let you know how they will handle the refund after they receive the bike back.
If this will be full refund, It will be 90% success due to costs like Ridewrap, etc. that will not be refunded, but stlll fine.
I still think that if they want to keep customer base happy they should offer some discounts for users affected with this issue so we could buy other bikes from them.
This at least should reduce their losses.

I also heard speculations that they are going to offer a smaller original shimano battery with some kind of mount that will fit the frames, which is a no go for me since decisive factor for buying Torque was a 900Wh battery.

Just FYI, I live in Poland, bike is Torque:On CF9 with ep801, bought in September 24.

i have 3000 miles in 7 months, been through multiple rear rotors, and double that in pads climbing and dropping 320,000 + feet. on my 3rd cassette and chains, 2nd rear tire is barely holding on, 3rd is ready to go on. They would only deduct about 800 bucks from mine, and get a tired rig back with all my bald tires and old cassette and chain and my worn rotors. ----------------would not be a bad deal for me, but i just want to know what they are going to do, I have new parts ready to go, if i had to replace it, id probably stick with a brand that had ep801 motor because i also added di2 to mine

Not a bad performance in that time period, but have you ever thought about your riding technique? I don’t know anyone who wears out that much equipment…
 
Going to wait for the update but as others have said a smaller battery is just not an option for me. I only bought the bike for the 900wh
 
they answered to me today, that all the news will be this Wednesday. im so bored of this stupid story :( not riding the bike for months is ridiculous. if their advise on Wednesday will be about another several months to wait, ill go to the lawyer. The only good thing in this bikes is geometry. nothing else.
