What's everyones thoughts on helmets
Full face or not?
I need to get a new one as old one covered in mould from left in shed,
Been look at the fox dropframe pro does anyone use one and what's your thoughts on it

It depends on your level of silliness when you ride. I'm pretty silly, so fully face for 80% of rides. Most of my riding is black, double black and harder.

Definitely not double blacks mainly reds and blues small jumps/drops etc if at a bike park /downhill then would wear a full face , mainly one at the moment for general trails, plenty of ventilation

I went full face after a face plant even on a tame ride. So it’s full face every time now, because you never know when it’s going to happen. Got an O’neal Fury from 24MX uk. Got some good deals on, & quick postage.

This. The proframe is so light and well ventilated I never bother with my half shell trail helmet . I can ride with it all day.

Full Face Helmet drill down thoughts

I got a little religion on a fall recently and being over 60 now it seems I don't heal as well or quickly as I used to. I'm looking for a convertible FF or a regular FF I will wear all the time. Will be on my Giant reign ebike about half time and my Giant Trance acoustic about half the time. I...

The fox looks good plenty of ventilation also looking at the ixs trigger ff

Go for the Bell Super 3r. (Like the one I'm wearing in my sig). The chin bar can be removed and it still looks great. Because I already had a FF I bought my Bell Super 3 without the chin bar. I doubt that you will wear the chin bar very often, but it's good to know that if you go somewhere a bit more scary than usual you have the option. My grandson has the same helmet and I bought him the chin bar as an extra for Xmas. He absolutely loves it and thinks it is so cool that currently he is wearing it all the time.

Big discounts available the moment on the net, with and without mips.

FF all the time now unless long distance XC ride. even a ride in the local can knock all your teeth out.
I had this crash outta nowhere and landed on the chin guard part of the helmet which saved my jaw and teeth.
downside was, the chinguard dug into the ground (a downside of the cool looking proframe construction) and wrenched my neck pretty badly giving me (another) concussion. rather that then the broken face though. even with the FF, I still had quite a few cuts to the face from shit getting through the 'visor' area
next time imma get a helmet with a smoother chinpiece in the hope that if it happens again, it wont dig in.

dobbyhasfriends sorry about your crash and I hope you are all right, but stuff happens (to me all the time-lol). For the most part I do what Yoak suggests, tuck and roll so I normally end up hitting my four/six head. I truly appreciate the MIPS helmets!​

 
Just moved to a FF as I am riding gnarly stuff most of the time now and am an adrenalin junkie. Wife like the way I look right now (for some unknown reason) so she told me to protect myself. I bought a Fox Proframe RS, great helmet, very light and well vented. Also has a GoPro mount under the visor. But in the end you have to buy what fits.
 
My Dainese Linea 01 has superb ventilation, is incredibly light, and furthermore has DH-certification (ASTM F1952-DH). Ugly maybe and not a well known brand in the mtb world, but well known suppliers of quality safety equipment to the motorcycling world (where I come from).

I wear a Fox Dropframe Pro. It’s not a full face helmet but does cover the sides of my head and protect my ears. Also elbow and knee guards. Setting KOMs can get sketchy at times.

I have an as new full face full carbon specialised Dissident CL complete with bag worn once ( I don’t need full face atall)

Big ups on the gambit. Most comfortable helmet I have ever used and that includes plenty of quality half face
 
Even though I should probably use a full face I went with a dropframe and a poc Kortal for the warmer days.

The dropframe has plenty of vents and is comfortable for what it is. I think the new one has a ratchet mechanism to fine tune fit that my older one doesn't which would be a bonus.

Seems a really good helmet and a very expensive purchase some really good tech with it aswell
