Like everything, it depends… I do a lot of my riding with my wife so if I were to ride hers she would not be riding with me… but I had a time when mine was down for warranty work and I rode my analog while she road her ebike in eco/trail mode.. prices are always lower at year end… the only risk is if you are very picky on what you want it might not be available at year end.

I’m there right now.
Currently looking for a bike but can’t decide whether to hold me nerve and wait for bigger discounts.

At the moment I’ve got the option of using my wife’s Powerfly HT while I wait.

I guess the big question is, how much can/will manufacturers discount their products and how long can they afford to hold out?

One thing’s for sure, the manufacturer discounts have killed the idea of buying used for me. Used prices are simply too high now by comparison.
A £4,850 bike discounted by about 22% to ~£3,800 seems to me a stonking deal and may be about as low as prices will go so I would buy. But then I have no idea what stock levels Trek UK have and these prices will only last until that stock is shifted. Maybe only until warmer weather in Easter ...

I'd say with spring starting and hopefully better weather this surplus stock is going to be snapped up and you'll be waiting until Jan next year hoping for bargains.
Decent discounts right now, take advantage of it and enjoy the next few months riding!

Yeah I get that , especially with hidden cables I can imagine it might be quite nice😂
I just don't like the stress of having to remember to charge my shifter
They do last pretty long, and you only have to look at the light on the derailleur to see how it's doing.

Green:- you've got ages

Red:- charge when you get home

Flashing Red:- you didn't listen, did you? Now pick the gear you want to be stuck with before you're stuck in one too high to get home in.

Some incredibly low prices at:

www.bike-discount.de

Bought ZEB Ultimate A2 29" 160x44mm (black) forks from them tax free. Very surprised when they arrived in 5 days just before Christmas. For some reason wasn't charged VAT by customs. Result! (y)
Yep i got my ZEB Ultimate dual position air from them for €559! No tax for me as in Spain...

Moore Large went bust on Monday. Might never have heard of them but they are (were) a big player in the cycle distribution market. Hearing they tried to raise cash with a 90% off stock trade sale in the context of bike sales down 20% yoy. It's a bloodbath out there.

On that note I found this...
Just last month the Bicycle Association's Annual Market Data Report for 2022 showed that UK bike sales have fallen to their lowest level in 20 years.

Combining sales figures and other data the Association's research suggests that mechanical bike sales fell by 22 per cent in 2022, down to 1.8 million units and 27 per cent below pre-Covid levels.
I find this incredible, I didn't realise the market was so bad over there. Will no doubt spread to Australasia soon

AIUI th eonly growth sectors in the market are gravel & electric & the vast majority of e bike sales are commuter type bikes, so I would expect manufacturers to put the brakes on production for the kind of stuff we ride. Want a bargain, get in soon.

Very good point, this is a short term scenario…

Heads up - the Moore Large stockholding is being auctioned off from tomorrow by John Pye if anyone fancies 30,000 bang average bikes. Obvs lots of other stuff going too. Could be bargains galore but keep in mind winning bids are subject to 25% buyers fees & vat on top of the total.

Looking for a Fox 36 for a 29 and 44 offset at a half decent price and it’s not going well.

…,probably along with everyone else I suppose

Your ok for a 27.5 or 51 offset re wiggle etc but 29 44, price doubles
