Kenevo Gen1 29er Front and Rear Kenevo

How in earth have you done that? If you have raised the front & back by the same amount, it cant be 60 degrees. My mullet is 62.5 degrees or so with a fox 40 at 200mm.
Going from the boxer tripple clamp to the fox 38 it raises 30mm plus, but I have no idea I thought I’ve done everything same, that is why I am questioning, I could have stuff up somewhere, I haven’t done the offset busher but I think that slackens even more so I am confused 😂

boxxer 180mm a2c on the kenevo is about 570mm. (srams default is 560mm)
fox38 180 in 29" is 594mm.
So you have only raised the front by 25mm + the 20mm back & front for the bigger wheels.

Ive raised my front to an a2c of 600mm with a fox 40 & a 27.5 rear wheel still & its not 60degrees. Maybe your measuring device is dodgy?

I went and bought an analog Kinchrome angle meter today and it’s sitting at 62.5 to 63 degree so that’s better I’ll throw the old digital one out 😂 Thankyou for your input 🤙🏻

I am on the market for a new ebike, I want to buy it on the sale market and not new. There is a lot of opportunity, but I have a few question in regard of the motor and the warranty.
When I stumble upon a selling about the kenevo I often see 'new motor'.

So what the deal with specialized motor ? I look it up and a lot of people are complaining, so I thought I must ask the specialized community.
Is this motor more prone to failure than other bike ? I have a giant for 2019 and no issue on the motor.

And what about warranty for the second buyer, in europe can I still use the warranty if the motor fail on me ?

My Kenevo 29/29 build is now finished, settled on 170mm travel front and rear using a Bomber 29 Z1 fork and DPX2 shock, 2.3 rear and 2.6 front tyres, chip in low position. The head angle is now 63.5 degrees (only 0.5 slacker than stock).
 
How come my fox 38 crown is massive compared to yours rob?

For the OEM market, Fox will offer 2 crown sizes, but the company stresses that there are no performance advantages from one crown to the other, and the choice is purely for aesthetics. A larger crown will be offered for bikes with a larger headtube and chunkier design, such as an eMTB, while a smaller crown is available and looks more at home on a regular enduro bike.

You bought a cheaper oem fork. I did the same recently, came with no decals, volume spacers, manual etc. Was a healthy saving over retail model.

@dixie please advise your fork serial number. I was looking the same thing my self. I bought a fork that has the following description:

I just bought an used Kenevo. 2021 with 27.5 wheel for now. I will try it like that and change setup little by little and aim to a build like yours in the future.

Can you tell me why you choose the flip chip on high ? With 190mm + 29er you dont sit to high above the trail ?
In low position the bike is too sluggish i guess ?

No reason, just had it that way before to get a higher bottom bracket and just put it back in that way without thinking about it until after. Will definitely try it on low as well, but it’s so good now I keep forgetting to change it.
It doesn’t seem too high to me, I’m 6’2” and the balance feels really good……but will let you know once I try the low setting.

I can report from my experience that I tried a little less sag on the rear with low setting and a little more sag with high setting. More sag and high setting is the combo I like most. It's more playful but still very stable at high speeds. With increased sag at 180mm+ travel the high BB is not that high anymore under load.

Honestly i think alot of people derestrict the motors and this causes belt wear which is the most common failure. I've read people without derestrictions motors lasting alot longer.

Specialized do offer transferable warranty, and should cover motor replacements for 2 years from sale, i believe.

That's not possible: Derestriction only increases motor-supported maximal wheel-rpm. The motor will see 100% same electric and mechanic motorpower, same Belt-stress and same Motor-rpm.

This is total BS. The motor only puts out what it will. Heat and pedal strikes kill motors. Low RPM and slow speeds are what give you excessive heat.
 
Hey guys I never said it was true I said I think! Personal opinion based on friends with derestricted vs others without.

Expanding on the theory some people with derestriction get lazy shifting habits which puts more strain on the motor also.
 
I've always been de-restricted (3 years) and I've had two new motors under warranty, neither has failed as a motor as such, but in both cases, the issue was water ingress causing issues with the main bearings (I don't over-wash bikes), the motors still functioned. People who use motor power modes to get up things instead of being in the correct gear and cadence kill motors.

I currently have a kenevo gen 1 but after reading this thread I know my next bike. Any pointers for the build? Or which bike…comp or expert?
