The update to System Controller is probably the only thing holding me back from ordering a Voima . Would love to have that system over the LED Controller

Has anyone been able to derestrict Pole Voima? I have understood that it's not to simple with this new Bosch Smart System and valve-mounted speed sensor..?
Not that I’m aware of. I’m still waiting for someone to come out with a solution for this. I have heard of some people who suggest taking off the valve stem magnet and putting one on the chainring or crank arm, but I haven’t tried that.

I think you would need to get a longer cable and chain stay mount it with a reduction gear magnet.
But there is no cable on the Voima. It’s wireless. If you changed the sensor type, it would need to be reprogrammed by a Bosch dealer.

It wouldn't be difficult for Pole to reprogram their CNCs to add this. Perhaps they are waiting for general availability of the new system.
But for those folks who already have the Voima, I would like to see an adaptor for Voima that could be fastened on the top tube that could house the new centralized base controller. Running a line out the side and into the head tube side holes would be tolerable or better yet a precision hole drilled underneath to pass the line through that hopefully wouldn't void the frame warranty though I probably would be fine with the former for fear of integrity issues. It would be even better if Pole provided one themselves in the same color options of the frame - I would pay for that to keep the looks in check, though obviously and entire frame built for this new controller would look best.
Not a problem to run the CNC, but they probably need to do some FEM/FEA analyzing to make sure the strength isn't compromised . Availability is probably an issue as well.

Presumably they could equally reprogramme the CNC to carve out a housing for, say, the Intra drive motor with integral gearbox, in due course (fits in a standard Shimano block housing)? Can’t help but wonder ‘what if the Smart system cannot be de-restricted - all that lovely bike, and 15,5mph max, then - off!

It's not actual wireless. It uses a magnet on the rim. It is also full compatible with a rotor mounted setup and has roughing/mounting location.
Wireless in that it has no wire running outside of the motor compartment, (I own and assembled my Voima, so I know it has a magnet on the rim) and like I said, even if you order a new rotor mount sensor, you would still have to go to a Bosch dealer and get it reprogrammed for the new sensor type. Then after all of that, you could try one of the many de-restrictors and hope you don’t get error codes. I just want something that will work with the existing stock setup and not have any issues with error codes.

Wireless would use some sort of power and a transmitter. The pole is just a magnet and the sensor is in the motor area. It is not wireless.
The Rear planetary gears work great and it's an easy fix to get extra speed.

Has anyone had to make a warranty claim on the Pole Voima? I am going to buy an Ebike soon and am in Australia. This is in the top 3 and probably #1 at this point except for this question mark…
The bikes look very well built and tested. However I am wondering how a warranty claim would be handled given my distance from Finland and the fact they don’t seem to have any dealer/support network?
Anyone have any experience in this area that can provide some feedback?
Are the bikes ‘just that good’ that warranty is a non issue?

I have to say that the Voima has exceeded my expectations in every way. It is an excellent bicycle that is very forgiving but extreme fast. There are so many design subtleties that seem odd when visually examining the bicycle, but when riding the bike, those oddities disappear from thought and make light speed obtainable. Another very strange experience that I have had with this bike is that every ride is like a mini car show. People tend to stare and comment on how nice it looks. I only have about 100 miles on it, but I haven't had any issues with the bike at all from the purchase, delivery, assembly of the frame set or riding it.
Things that I absolutely love about this bike is the high BB, I can get in so many extra peddle strokes, it is astounding, this also makes the bike drop into corners and rail them. The near vertical seat post makes climbing the steepest trails laughable, especially when every one else is looping out on the climbs trying to keep up. Then on the descents I love how you can hang off the back of it and hit light speed.
The Bosch drive unit is the best, without question.
The only thing I don't like is the keyed battery access, but I'll be addressing that soon.

Mine arrived with a broken banjo in one of the brake calipers. Just made a call to Pole and the part was in the mail that day
I then had an issue with the bosch motor just shutting down during heavy climbs
I took it to the local bike shop I know that deal with Bosch and after a bit of analyzing discovered a battery overheating issue.
Bosch replaced the battery immediately and so far so good
Love the bike and have now concerns what so ever

Did they mention whether it was a retrofit to the existing bike? I know it’s unlikely but if not, we can expect a new model of the Voima in Spring 23

No they didn’t. Seems unlikely - you need a hole in the top tube. I guess it’s not as tricky to change with the CNC process compared with a carbon frame. I suppose they would need to test it again.

Whatever you do, don't use the free shipping offer. Pay for the express shipping. The frame I ordered has been in shipping since the fourth of November to Sydney, the tracking has no updates, and no one has been able to answer enquiries about it. Had probably half a dozen rides on the bike till now, but this was the 1st couple of big days out on it this week with a day on W2 at Afan then Bike Park wales *via pedal pass*. Finally dialled out the hand pressure on flatter ground, just small changes in seat position, seat post height and handlebar roll and it's totally comfortable now. Did 75km and 8000ft climbing over the 2 days. This bike climbs better than anything else I've ridden. Even on steep technical trails the front wheel stays planted with little signs of lifting and I've honestly got over stuff on this my other ebike (Merida e160) has struggled on before. Tighter switch back turns are a little challenging due to it's length (I'm on the K4) but still do-able and the bosch motor is just excellent vs my ep8 on the Merida. For the Bike park wales day, I managed 33km and 4300ft altitude and still had 2 bars of battery left when I called it. At a combined weight nearing 143kg I'm really pleased with that. Was using a combination of Eco +3 assistance and eMTB mode and it was bloody cold temps nearing 1 celcius so there's more range there to be gained. Downhill will be as you expect, it's a weapon. On flow trails it just flies, chuck a bit of tech in and the suspension is excellent. Still got to make a few changes to my riding to get the front up on drops etc as it's such a long bike but that's down to me. Tighter turns are fine, pedals level helps for some reason. Won't deny I was concerned about sizing when ordering but the K4 is bang on. Nice Gold Voima at BPW too but didn't see the owner to say hi.
Sounds awesome man! As far as getting the front up on the drops, I’d suggest putting it in emtb or turbo on the descents so you can stab the pedals as you take off to get the front end up. It’s just too hard to do that while in ECO or tour +. Also if you’re having this trouble, (keeping the front end up) on jumps too, like I was on my Voima I’d try increasing (slowing) the rebound damping on the shock and speeding it up on the fork. This helped mine go from almost endowing on the jumps to now jumping nice and level.
Interesting the 6.3 pb tester preferred the k2 size.

stock speed sensor is a magnet on the rim and a sensor in the motor case.

My understanding is that it is not the same as any other bike. There is a sensor in the motor and the corresponding part at the bottom of the valve on the rear wheel.

Not sure what the screws are for, but the magnet simply goes on the inflation valve on the rear wheel, so you might need a longer valve stem? The motor will pick up the wheel revolutions from the spinning magnet. Umm the O ring might be to put under lock ring for the chainring?
Ahh just a thought for the screws they could be to hold the bottle cage on - think there x5 and about 8mm of thread - any longer and they could screw into the battery?
