Pic of the Day

Finished our little trip to the Peaks / Sheffield this morning by sessioning ‘Blue Steel’ at Lady Cannings Plantation. It’s actually a really fun fast flowing trail with plenty of jumps & rollers thrown in to pump your way around the trail

Good to meet Mr & Mrs @St4nley too , hope you enjoyed your ride 😀👊🏼

Yes for sure, we’ll be back. The rocky descents on the peaks are something quite special, and Steel City at Grenoside is probably the fastest trail I’ve ever ridden. Can’t wait to return 👊🏼

That steel city trail looks great fun, I need to move up that way and find a job. (y)

Steel City is indeed amazing. There’s another trail there, DH3, which is currently being worked on and will also be super smooth and fast when finished

There’s a third too, Pub Run, but that’s old & blown out and a bit meh!

I had a nostrils to nostrils encounter today!

One of our locals is call bucket seats. Because there's a pair of bucket seats in the woods there.
Yup, the trails seem to name themselves. We have a trail here called “BOT 2.0“. Burnt Out Toyota”. No pics yet but one of my favourite trails.
Guess what this trail is called?

An old relic abandoned from the 60’s I think.

I have questions...
its not as dramatic as you would think..
bottle cage bolts went missing, I had some machine screws in the van but they were too long so I just cut them down.
one advantage of keeping all the tools and spares in the van when you go riding, had to use them a few times now

No riding due to injury ( and no bike as its also requiring surgery ) ..so a couple of walks along the Northumberland Coast with lunch in between ..which did the damaged ankle no good but made the missus very happy .
First up the coastal path south of Craster ..lunch in The Jolly Fisherman then up to Bamburgh for an ice cream and a walk along the beach ..lack of bike apart ..pretty much a perfect day View attachment 90476View attachment 90477View attachment 90478View attachment 90479View attachment 90480View attachment 90481

Which won't mean an awful lot to anyone who didn't watch the Viking series " The Last Kingdom " on Sky TV..
I did however totally amuse myself when I convinced a southern based tourist that I had been the window cleaner at the castle for twenty years until injury forced retirement last year ( my limp adding authenticity) ..the missus just walked away..😂
Looking at the pics again my friend no so much Uthred more like Mr Whippy 🤣

How very dare you question the quality of that extraordinary confection !.😁
Mr Whippy ..utter froth ..I will have you know that was white chocolate ice cream laced with white chocolate flakes 😋 ..
Total quality ..fit for a Norseman 😉

To have the threat of being attacked by a bear or bitten by a venomous snake whilst out riding just seems such an alien concept to me. Here in the UK all I have to worry about is if it’s going to rain !
I came close to a deer darting out of the woods 20 yards in front of me, if my bike was going another 5 mile an hour faster, I’d of been flattened 😂

I got a strong stare from a couple of sheep this morning in the moors...

Cracking ride out today, very hard on the multiple uphills in this heat but totally worth it for the fun sections. Route was something like.... up the road to Crown Edge, over the top to Lantern Pike, down the hill to Hayfield, across over to New Mills, up the hills towards Kinder reservoir, up the insane hill to cross point between Edale and Hayfield then down the tracks to bring me back to Chunal.

Very warm but fun.

The 30mm riser bars definitely make a difference but also definitely missing the suspension post the dropper has its uses and saved me on 2 descents today but my arse is feeling it today
