This chain ring issue is really starting to piss me off. I haven't had any issue with it sucking it all the way up and hitting frame but the ring is grabbing and not letting go of the chain properly. The ring looks excessively worn to me (it's done 350 miles) . Opinions? Fucking rediculous that you cannot just buy a new one. Curse you haibike!

jpj it does look rather worn for only 350 miles. If you look at my post on 29th Nov you’ll see the chain ring on my Focus looks to have less wear it had covered 800 miles then. If your running shimano 12 speed, it looks like the wide narrow aspect of your chain ring is not suitable. The teeth on the wide part look to be excessively worn, on the pressure part/drive area of the tooth. It may be these teeth are too wide & grabbing the chain. See the Wolftooth info in my post, it may explain it better. I’m still waiting to get mine changed under warranty.

Yeh I read that wolf tooth bit the other day interesting and makes sense.. Haibike have obviously not got a suitable ring for the 12 speed shimano chain. The fact you can't even buy one leaves no hope for a free one under warranty.. Going forward it is an issue with wanting to ride it now not sit looking at it until they decide what to do to fix the problem! My next try was going to be a kmc 12 speed chain in the hope it is marginly wider than the shimano chain? Hoping this may help..

Could you not get a spider & separate suitable chain ring?

I'm glad that i have Allmtn 6 with sram x-sync 2 chainring. Solution for this problem would be, spider from Allmtn 6 and original chainring from Shimano. if i understand the problem.

I received this communication direct from Haibike support Germany this week. Hopefully, I will be able to complain through my bike shop as replacements chain rings will be in soon.

Hi Robert,

Replacement chain rings are expected to be with us later this month.
At the moment, I'm not aware of PWX2/ALLMTN compatible aftermarket alternatives.
The best advice is to raise the issues with your retailer, who can contact us for support and raise warranty claims where applicable.

Good to know - I submitted a claim just over 2 weeks back - LBS couldn't care less so had to contact Raleigh Tech/Warranty team, who made the shop place the order and sent me a claim form - However I was advised these are direct like for like replacements so not sure it'll solve the problem. Someone else with the same issue has just received back today the Sram Allmtn 6 parts as a replacement, so not sure what part I'll receive. Expensive bike to be ridden once and then not being used for a month :-(.

Hey up - Has anyone had an update on this from their LBS or Haibike? - Any info. would be great.

Just over a month now of not riding and I'm getting nowhere fast and considering starting proceedings to fight for a refund on the bike. Last week when I chased the bike shop again for an update (They never return calls) on the chainring (ordered 7.1.21) they mentioned buying an sram chain will fix the issue, but I had to pay for it. On a brand new bike that's been ridden once I don't think so!. They also didn't confirm whether this was the bike shops opinion on the fix, or Haibike's recommendation so gives me little confidence.

Whilst waiting for bike shop I put a new shimano chain on the bike and double checked the length but when I checked it again on the bike in the smallest ring on the cassette theit was no tension on the chain. IE it came from the bike shop with chain too long. Since taken the extra link out the tension is great and I have not had any more chain suck problems.

That's interesting - It was one of the things I looked into and asked a few people about (Range between 60-63). I know you probably have way more interesting things to do with your weekend, but would you mind counting the number of links for me please?. Can't quite believe my luck but an ebike dealer that didn't even sell me the bike just got in touch today and offered to chase it up for me - how good is that! Feeling a bit more hopeful now :)

I'll check but I think it was 59

ive had the suck problem, bikes only 3 week old, scratched the cain stay up abit etc! contacted haibike my self and they said they are waiting on new chain rings

"I am sorry to read about the chain suck on your All Mtn 7, we have on the way to our HQ a direct replacement chainring we expect around 14 working days. We will send them to stores that sold that model of the bike once they arrive, the store then will contact you to arrange to fit of the chainring. "

More and more people are reporting this issue on here and especially the FB haibike owners page. I was told 10 working days back on the 7th Jan. Interesting the wording on your response though - Sounds more like a full recall now.

Finally got the bike back ready for the trail no thanks to any help from haibike. Ordered a spider that the allmountain 6 uses (came from Italy in the end) and the front ring dropped to 36t from 38 with wolf tooth components steel ring specifically cut for shimano 12 speed chains. ?

I'm waiting for a spider, that's a long time arriving - Italian Ebay messing about. I sourced a steel sram 38T from Spain & will prob run a YBN chain. My bike has no chain suck in the 95 miles I've ridden in our winter filth. I did notice that the shimano split link was the only part of the chain that "stuck" on the original Haibike sprocket.

Sprox: Sram X-Sync Eagle 104 BCD buy and offers on Bikeinn

I think uberbike do a 36 tooth steel sprocket but I wasn't confident it would run with the shimano chain kmc of otherwise should be fine I would imagine though

Shame the spider is such a bugger to get hold of really else it's not a big issue to solve! Plus lack of 38 T sprocket in steel also.
Yeah was just having a look - pricey postage fees. TBH No one who buys a brand new bike should be having this much trouble, or additional cost to just to be able to ride it. I would honestly take my money back on this bike in a heartbeat, but have no chance without Haibike admitting the fault

There is one listed in UK someone has just posted that's alot cheaper.. But yes I totally agree and think the customer service has been pretty shocking from haibike over this matter!

Sorry for the rant - 1 ride and then 5 weeks stuck indoors not riding has done my nut in

Ordered the Spider cheers :) Now to locate a chainring. Haibike should reimburse customers that have to do this, at least for the parts - maybe even give us a free tshirt that we can clean our chainsets with. I'll be hitting social media over the next few days to provide sarcastic comments about the recent innovation award - More to vent frustrations but you never know someone from Haibike might finally get in touch as neither them or Raleigh have responded to any communications so far.

how much does it cost for these new parts? bit frustrating paying £5600 on a bike and having to buy parts after just a couple of weeeks of ownership! and to top it off have scratched up chain stay where the chain scraped the paint off

£40 for the spider (I was lucky) - £80 roughly for the wolftooth chainring I think but haven't sourced one yet - Then £20 for WT blue bolts and I have Hope blue crankset envy so another £165 ish when I have the funds
