2020 Jam2 Bosch CX and Fox X2 fitment

So, does it fit or not as the air can seems pretty bulky? If not, what about other shocks with piggyback like Mara Pro or DPX2 (upside down ofc). Do the piggybacks fit or does it get caught by the downtube?

The stock Fox DPS is almost as bad choice as the 34 Rhythm fork for this kind of a bike.

Not sure if it fits. But I know what you mean about the DPS in the rear. I think it's a lot to do with the F.O.L.D system, it seems to have more unsuspended/unassistaded travel, as its nearly impossible to set the sag & have enough supportive suspension travel. Not sure what your findings are with it? Keep us updated.

I sent an email to Focus looking for advice and measurements of a Coil rear shock that would fit and received the below replies;

Unfortunately, just the original one would fit in that bike.

The follow-up for clarification if I was unable to upgrade rear shock to anything else - coil or air;

We haven't tested any other shock at the bike so we can't release using a different one there. If you'd find a shock that would have exactly the same measurements you could try it. But then you might lose your warranty in case of damage etc.

I'm 105kg without back pack. [less of that fat B talk?]. So you can imagine what my shock has to put up with. Seems to get full travel just on a normal ride out without, pushing things too much. I'm going to try fully releasing the air using a pump, then re-do it at 50 psi intervals to see if I can get sag better, then hopefully might have better support. Running 320psi at moment so not much more to go.

Hey TrailBob, I was the same running 310-320psi and I found it to harsh. I upgraded the volume spacer to a 0.6 (yellow spacer). Fox Part No: 803-01-250 according to shock code DX9M (9mm shaft - but I thought Jam2 6.8 was an 8mm shaft!) They come is a pack from 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 0.95 (factory fitted already with a 0.2). I fitted the largest spacer (0.6) I could for this shock according to the chart (please anyone correct me if I am wrong) which enabled me to run less pressure now sitting 290-295PSI, which feels more plush, without bottoming out but using 95% of travel. Still would like to drop a bit more

Can anyone confirm the largest volume spacer for the shock is 0.6 that can be fitted? What would happen if fitted thye 0.8 or 0.95?

For XL frame dpx2 fits with out any problems.
I did change fork and shock before first ride.
But I think it do work well and better than my old Jam2

L size can be tricky

Just a stupid Q: could the shock be flippe upside down so that the chamber has more space on smaller frame?

does not fit the other way around. Because the neck is too thick

The can is on the piston rod end, as opposed to the body, so may fit in. The can would be at the top, & body at the bottom, so no chance of can striking the frame, there’s should be enough clearance around the FOLD suspension link for the shock to clear. ?

Having said that. That looks a big old lump, on the end of the piston rod, compared to the DPX2. ?

That's what I am trying to find out, thought it should not be too much of a problem as there is no additional can sticking forward at the bottom as per DPX2

But that big lump seems to line up within the swing ark of the top pivot

I'll have my fork changed soon (whenever they get the fork from Fox that is) I'll ask the shop if they can look into installing those shocks, maybe they have the parts to try it out.

You’ll have to keep us up to date with the fitment, As I have the same bike & would be looking at an upgrade.

Hey all!
I work in a bike shop in Brisbane Australia and had the opportunity to steal a Rockshox Super Delux from a Jam 8.9 to see if it fits in my LARGE jam2 6.8. it fits with a few mm to spare. Got pics of it next to a DPX2 to show size difference as I know that is the one everyone is asking about. The DPX2 in the pic wont fit the jam as its the wront stroke and eye to eye but atleast you will get an idea of size. I think it will fit a Large fine.

More pics, I did some measuring and the DPX2 is FRACTIONALY bigger. Both shocks were measured from the centre of the can to the edge of the piggy back. (roughly)

Looking at your photos, I think that the DPX2 might just and only just fit - looks too close for comfort. I'm trying to find out if an X2 fits

I think I would agree with that! Keen to see for sure, was just unfortunate that we didn't have an X2 to try ?

Just measured the standard shock and at the widest point it is 53mm, the X2 has a measurement of 57mm. Just need to see if there is enough room to fit it in. I think it will work

Not an X2 shock however I just ordered a 210x55 manitou mara pro for my XL jam2. Will report here if it fits without issue with the piggyback.

I have just put the 2nd largest volume spacer in my stock DPS shock and am now not blowing through the travel, but still using about 95% of it. It now ramps up the stiffness towards the end of the travel very quickly.

Unfortunately the Fox X2 won't fit. DPX2 may fit. RockShox Super Deluxe Ultimate fits.
Now looking to see what coil shocks fit. Marzocchi Bomber CR perhaps?

The manitou mara pro fits on my XL jam2.

I needed to rotate the work / party mode lever as it was going to foul in party mode. It was a 30 second job.

No biggie since I won't ever use the work mode anyway.

So I was following this thread to get an idea if the DPX2 would fit in my medium frame Jam². I went ahead and pulled the trigger and bought a new takeoff and as you can see it hits the frame pretty bad. it only gets through roughly 27mm of the 55mm of stroke before it contacts the frame. I was really hoping it would fit as I want to upgrade from the stock dps. But just to let you all know a dpx2 does not fit in a medium or smaller frame.
