Recommendation for Torque Kit

Hi,

I just got my 2020 Turbo Levo Expert last night. First bike I have owned that is $$$.

With the carbon frame, I want to ensure I get everything right Torque. I currently do not have the right tools to even change the seat..

Can anyone recommend a kit that is good and won't break the bank.. and I can get here in Australia.

I have the X-Tools torque wrench set. I just looked for a link to it and it would appear that you can't buy it under that name any more, but I suspect that the company has either been bought out or changed its name. Here is the exact same set from Lifeline. Take a look and Google it to see if you can get in OZ. The bits are locked in place by a simple push button in the head of the wrench. In common with all the torque wrenches I have had before, despite there being a lever on the head to alter direction, they do not drive left hand threads. You will jam them irreversibly if you try. Up to 24Nm, so not suitable for cassettes or bottom brackets.

I second the X-Tools set. Sad to hear it's no longer available.

Anything left handed that needs torquing, you'll need the Park Tools torque wrench which seems to be the only one which is properly calibrated. There are other reversible torque wrenches available on Amazon, Ebay, whatever, but you'll see from the reviews that "calibration" has a whole new meaning.

I have a 25Nm torque wrench that I tried to use on a left hand thread. I was doing my pedals and without thinking, I flicked the little lever on the wrench and applied pressure. The wrench is now jammed. In very tiny print in the instructions, it does say "right hand thread only". So why provide the little lever that makes it possible to deploy it for left hand thread use? :unsure:

If you think you can fix it, you can have it free for postage.
 
Bummer the X-Tools is no longer available, Was going to post that as my suggestions as well. Got one on sale from Chain Reaction a few years ago and it has been great. I agree that the Lifeline Essentials kit appears to be the same one. If so it's a great value especially if you can find a sale.
 
Get a beam style torque wrench, they work for LH threads and almost never lose accuracy. Sure, they are more difficult to use but you can also use them to check your click torque wrenches (which do lose accuracy occasionally). You will probably need a 1/4" and 3/8" to cover the required range.

Isn't it! By the way the recommended torque for the (long) battery guard to battery bolt (not the short battery mounting bolt) is 2Nm. Apparently overtightening this is the most common cause of cracking the guard, but I think I heard a slight crack before I got to 2Nm. Backed off straight away and seems ok but go carefully there as they cost £55.

I really wanted this..

And after picking myself back up of the floor I ordered this..

Nice bit of kit, came with calibration cert and can do 0.1 increments and can do clockwise and anti clockwise (slightly less accurate) (y)

Hope you find a good one, there is a lot of rubbish out there.

Exactly the same one I bought over 10 years ago. Works perfectly and gets a fair amount of use
