Integrated Bosch CX Gen 5 800Wh super-trail eMTB

The Scott Patron ST eRIDE 2026 is the Super Trail variant of Scott's flagship eMTB platform, built around the Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 4 motor (85 Nm torque, 250 W rated, 600 W manufacturer-claimed peak, 2.9 kg) and an 800 Wh battery. Travel is 170 mm front and 150 mm rear on a carbon chassis. Single base trim catalogued. Four sizes from S to XL, reach 428-503 mm, head angle 64.9 degrees flat, chainstays 454 mm, wheelbase 1222-1308 mm. The community read in one line: a properly considered Swiss-engineered Super Trail eMTB with a longer 170 mm fork and burlier kit than the standard Patron, sitting in the "trail with capability" middle ground for riders who don't want a full enduro bike.
Drive system and range. The Bosch CX Gen 4 is the predecessor to the current Gen 5, but remains a highly refined and well-supported motor — 85 Nm of torque, smooth and quiet, with free OTA firmware via the eBike Flow app. The 800 Wh battery is the largest available in the Bosch ecosystem, giving genuine all-day capability. Real-world range will sit in the 55 to 80 km territory in mixed terrain on Trail/eMTB mode, with extreme cases pushing further. @NeilJPatron notes the Bosch Connect/Kiox 300 system provides "health metrics, GPS location, and real-time ride data to Flow app" — the modern Bosch ecosystem is genuinely well-developed.
Geometry and handling. Trail-focused. 64.9 degree head angle is modern trail rather than aggressive enduro — slacker than the older Patron but not into super-slack territory. Reach steps cleanly: 428 mm (S), 448 mm (M), 473 mm (L), 503 mm (XL). Chainstays held at 454 mm flat across all four sizes. Wheelbase 1222 to 1308 mm. The 170 mm front fork (vs the standard Patron's 160 mm) and burlier component spec is what defines the ST variant — it's the platform you pick if you want a Patron that handles more aggressive descending.
Build and value. Single base trim catalogued. Scott typically equip the Patron ST with Fox 38 Performance or RockShox Zeb fork at 170 mm front, Fox Float X or RockShox Super Deluxe rear shock, four-piston brakes with 203 mm rotors, and a Shimano XT or SRAM GX 12-speed drivetrain. @NeilJPatron documents the 2023 Patron eRIDE 900 ST Tuned at £10,500 original RRP — Scott's premium pricing reflects the carbon chassis and Bosch ecosystem.
Community-verified strengths.
- @Hansie documents upgrading XT to XTR drivetrain for "silent gear changes under power" — the Patron platform welcomes drivetrain upgrades and the spec is fundamentally sound.
- @Rouseabout27 reports 4,100 km on a Patron GX Eagle AXS cassette running three chains over its lifetime, lubing every 100 km — solid long-term durability with reasonable maintenance.
- The Scott Syncros iC SL integrated cockpit with TwinLock suspension lockout (TwinLoc on the Patron platform) is a Scott signature — one lever controls fork and shock compression simultaneously for fast climbing efficiency.
Caveats and known gripes.
- @marks documented TwinLoc to TwistLoc conversion issues: "TwistLoc is too soft and sloppy for sustained open position climbing, tends to flop to lockout. Bosch LED controller moved next to stem as workaround." The cockpit integration has compromises.
- Bosch CX Gen 4 motor is now a generation behind the current CX Gen 5 (120 Nm) and CX-R race motor. The Patron platform on Gen 4 may feel less powerful in 2026 versus rivals on the newer motor.
- Fixed 454 mm chainstays across all four sizes — no size-tuning.
- @Joecrow notes the Bosch Connect Module retrofit adapter bracket is not compatible with Gen 5 CX motor or Gen 4 CX Race in Scott Patron — workaround is to bubble-wrap and stuff into the downtube. Connector ecosystem has rough edges.
Verdict. The Scott Patron ST eRIDE 2026 is a properly considered Swiss Super Trail eMTB that pairs the Bosch CX ecosystem with Scott's refined integrated cockpit and a 170 mm front travel for capability beyond pure trail use. It suits intermediate-to-advanced trail riders who want a do-it-all platform with the largest Bosch battery, who appreciate Scott's engineering pedigree, and who buy through strong Scott dealer networks. Look elsewhere if you want the latest Bosch CX Gen 5 motor, size-tuned chainstays, or the more progressive geometry of newer enduro platforms. Production status: current (2026 model year), single base trim, four sizes.
