Has anyone fitted the Bosch Connect Module to the Gen 4 CX Race Motor (BDU-3760) in a Scott Patron 900 ST TUNED?

Hi All,

I’ve ordered a Bosch Connect Module to retrofit to the Gen-4 CX Race motor in my 2023 Scott Patron ST Tuned.

I can find a lot of info about fitting the module to this motor (and other compatible motors/modules) that show fitting using a adapter bracket supplied with the module kit, yet nothing about fitting one into the Patron frame/motor mount area.

A local cycle shop has advised that the module won’t mount using the supplied bracket, and will need to be positioned “in a suitable position elsewhere in the frame…..perhaps the headstock!.” 😳😬

It’s a new 23 bike and I don’t want to be stripping the frame to pieces to find somewhere to locate the Connect module and invalidate the factory warranty.

Another local Scott affiliated service centre has agreed to fit the unit to ensure the warranty remains valid, but they have stated that they have never done this before.

If anyone out there can offer any help or advice or have managed this install themselves, I’d really appreciate the feedback.

Cheers.

The adaptor bracket was not compatible with my Gen 5 CX motor either. In the end I wrapped it in bubble wrap and stuffed it in the down tube up above the in tube battery lock just below the head stock then packed some more bubble wrap in the cavity there, no rattles and works well. I connected it with the existing cable that normally goes from the motor to the Kiox (for me) display and had to buy another cable to go from the connect module up to the display, the one supplied was too short. I was a bit concerned that the location in metal down tube would block the GPS signal but it all seems to work fine!

Great job Joe, pleased to hear there are workarounds………..thanks for sharing your experience with fitting the Connect Module 👍🏻 it’s a bit of a shame that the module isn’t standard fitment considering how much we pay for the bike itself………….but that’s the way it goes I guess……….not everyone wants to use the features it brings and would increase the cost of the bike itself………sorry, playing my own devils advocate there, lol.

How you finding it overall and can you access the information the module provides remotely? Eg; my wife would like to be able to see my health metrics, location etc for piece of mind when I’m out and about.

Hmmn, I do know it is possible to see the bikes location when it is parked using the Flow app. If your wife installs the Flow app on her mobile and pairs it (multiples are OK) to your bike she would definitely see the bikes location when parked (turned off) or if tracking is enabled if it were stolen (moved without being turned on) but I have never tried when being ridden normally, basically because I'm doing the riding, I'll make a quick test and get back to you tomorrow. I don't do the health metrics so no experience with that but I believe you have to pair a health monitor/watch to the Flow app. My wife bought a pair of rechargable trackers that are stuck on our helmets and raise an alarm in the event of a knock, can't remember the last time I charged mine up though.

Cheers Joe. I’m hoping that by linking the module with the flow app/Apple health app/etc that by all the electrickery, telemetry etc, somehow it can be done 👍🏻

My watch can do the alert thing for sure if I have a heavy’off’………that will link with her as being an emergency contact, but ideally she’ll be more relaxed if there’s a way the Connect module/flow app can relay information in real time.

Much appreciate your looking into this for me 🙏🏻

OK here is how the test went. I took 2 mobiles with me on a short ride, both are paired to the bike, from the start with the bike turned off the Flow apps would display its location on a map by tapping the bike icon shown in the 1st and second photo below. With the bike turned on one phone connected to the bike automatically to unlock it while the other remained disconnected. With the bike turned on it was no longer possible to display its location on a map, as before, on either phone but by going to settings>components>Link Module there is a map reference listed, see photo 3 below, which if you put in the search box of Google Maps will show the location on a map. This map reference does change while riding but how dynamic it is was hard to say. One thing I did notice was that the disconnected phone showed a notification that it could not establish a Bluetooth link (blocked by the other phones connection) and I do wonder if it was not adjacent to the bike, which would be the situation if it was your wife's mobile and you we out on a ride, that perhaps it would still directly display the bikes location on a map. You will have to try that and see.
Hope that helps.:) WhatsApp Image 2025-10-18 at 16.38.49_fb60caa8.jpgWhatsApp Image 2025-10-18 at 16.38.49_229695d5.jpgWhatsApp Image 2025-10-18 at 16.38.49_5ea4b0b5.jpg

Wow mate! I can’t thank you enough for taking the time out to check this one out for me. I really appreciate your time. 🙏🏻👍🏻

Soooooo, without the Connect module I experienced a similar experience as yours, and my wife’s phone once linked to my bike, kicked out my Bluetooth link to my phone……

The bike had just been delivered, and all I could remember the lad telling me that the Smart App was updated that morning and that if it showed an update to be done OTA, NEVER leave it out of Bluetooth distance, or it will need to go back to an approved Bosch dealer for a factory reset.

Sure enough, it showed that an update was required……….8 hours after being installed.

Apparently it’s like an iPhone and the Bosch updates are a regular thing……..but after that little episode, and your feedback, I think I have my head around it that although sharing the bike, it requires the phone to be connected and in range.

Although things like this YouTube post from EMTB Network are what’s led me to asking the question of remote access buddy.

Nothing like as bad as Iphone. Android or Windows. Bosch seem to go for once a quarter updates and so far this year they have included some really worthwhile improvements! There is usually someone here who will post the advanced info on the updates so it's worth keeping an eye open to know what is comming down the line.
Glad I could help.:)
P.S. that YouTube vid. is well out of date, there have been a lot of changes and improvements since that was released.

Yeah, it is an old one I guess. Hopefully the module arrives this week and I’ll get it booked in for fitting. 👍🏻 I’ll keep you posted on how I find it.

Hi I am wanting o know if it is worth fitting a ConnectModule to my Scott strike 920 2024 or are they just a problem, I asked my dealer about getting one fitted and he said they are not needed. I would appreciate any feedback and advice from anyone who has one fitted.

Hey Excalibur, here’s my experience with the Connect Module and my Scott Patron eRide ST Tuned running the Bosch Gen 4 CX Race motor.

I couldn’t find much info anywhere about what the Module would actually do for me, and the benefits of fitting one.

There was some good feedback from the guys on here who had fitted one, but it most certainly didn’t give me anything close to what I’d hoped it would.

I’d basically based my ‘need’ to get one fitted on old information from YouTube and what I assumed the module would be able to relay back to my wife re my health metrics in real time, if she’d logged into the Bosch online app platform.

Without rambling on too much, I’d say (and I’ll stand to be corrected here) that the only advantage of fitting one is that it provides you with a Bosh approved GPS tracker for your bike should it be stolen. Great for reducing your insurance policy if you have a separate policy for public liability protection and if you’re out and about and away from home.

The chances are your home contents policy might not cover you if someone has it away with your pride and joy out of the Boundaries of your property.

Secondly, it enables the unlocking of an audible alarm if your bike is moved and will send an alert to your phone to warn you that your bike has been potentially stolen and will tack it and show you its location.

In summary, if your bike is fitted with the Bosch Smart System (which the fitting of the module requires anyway), then the Bosch Flow app does everything the module does barring the GPS tracker and the audible bike alarm.

Finally, I’m pleased I managed to find an online retailer that had the module on sale at £39.99 and that I didn’t pay full retail for it!

I hope this helps,

Neil.

Hi Neil thank you for your reply to my question about a connectmodule it has helped me decide not to have one fitted as I was told by the guys where I bought the bike it is not really needed and adds more compications to the running of the bike, I am with my bike all the time while out riding and have a strong lock if I need to secure it while going for something and it's in sight all the time.
I have had the bike for just over a year now and it is insured fully which gives me peace of mind so I don't think I will be getting a connectmodule fitted, I had the bike serviced last month and it passed with flying colours and I was told everything was fine.
Thank you again and have a good weekend.

John
