EMTB Forums verdict

The Giant Reign E+ 2024 is the Taiwanese giant's flagship full-power enduro eMTB, an aluminium Maestro-suspension chassis built around the SyncDrive Pro3 motor and the bigger 800 Wh EnergyPak Smart battery. Headline numbers: 170 mm fork, 160 mm rear travel, SyncDrive Pro3 at a class-leading 105 Nm torque and 800 W peak (2.9 kg), 800 Wh removable EnergyPak Smart 800 pack, a 63.7 to 64.5 degree adjustable head angle (flip-chip), reach 425 to 505 mm across 12 geometry rows (size and flip-chip combinations), 24.9 kg claimed weight and £7,499 base price. Production status is discontinued. The community verdict, from @Jurassic's long-term 2022 Reign E+1 ownership at 4,500 km with 94% battery health, is that this is a properly durable enduro chassis well-suited to UK conditions, marred only by some cosmetic filler cracking that Giant UK warranty-replaced.

Drive system and range. The Giant SyncDrive Pro3 is the in-house Giant-branded motor co-developed with motor partners. @offroad clarifies that "Giant Reign E+ motor has Giant product code and is made by Shimano, not Yamaha. Shimano motors have connectors on the side (EP6/EP8 type), while Yamaha motors have connectors on top". The 105 Nm headline torque is class-leading among 2024 enduros and matches the DJI Avinox M1 figure. The 800 Wh EnergyPak Smart pack is removable. @jeanmarc documents real-world consumption: 2024 average 103 Wh/h (peak 217 Wh/h) on his Reign E+2 with the older 625 Wh setup. Real-world range on the bigger 800 Wh in a 24.9 kg chassis sits comfortably at 45 to 60 km depending on assist mode.

Geometry and handling. The 63.7 degree Low head angle (64.5 in High) is bang on modern enduro norm. Giant offers extensive flip-chip adjustment with 12 geometry rows: SM/MD/LG/XL each get a Low and High flip-chip option plus a standard size, with reach progressing 425 to 505 mm and chainstays scaling 454 to 457 mm. Wheelbase ranges 1209 to 1325 mm. The 454 to 457 mm chainstay is on the longer side for an enduro chassis and biases the bike toward climbing stability and front-wheel grip rather than a snappy rear-end. @Ordinary Human Male's earlier comparison places the Reign E+ in Low as more aggressively slack than the Trek Rail, Merida eOne-Sixty 700 or Radon Render.

Build and value. Single base trim documented at £7,499 with 24.9 kg claimed. Giant offers Reign E+0 (top), E+1 and E+2 trims in market. Standout choice across the range is the in-house Giant ecosystem (motor, battery, wheels, finishing kit) delivering excellent value. Questionable is the discontinued status, which means dealer stock is dwindling and the platform will not get the latest 2026 upgrades. @Redlemon's custom-spec build features Fox Transfer Factory 210 mm dropper, We Are One Convert MX wheels on i9 Hydra hubs, OneUp E-Bar and Maxxis 2.5 DD tyres, showing the platform's significant upgrade headroom.

Community-verified strengths. First, the 105 Nm SyncDrive Pro3 motor is properly aggressive and gives the Reign E+ class-leading climb torque. Second, the 800 Wh removable EnergyPak Smart battery delivers genuine all-day range. Third, the chassis durability and Giant warranty: @Jurassic's frame-crack experience was warranty-handled cleanly, and the 94% battery health at 4,500 km is exceptional.

Caveats and known gripes. Speed-sensor failures have been a documented issue: @Kanitfastan reports tracing a "power interrupt/cutting out issue to failed speed sensor (Giant Speed Sensor Integrated 4430-FSJISS-01) after 3 seasons of troubleshooting", which is the kind of intermittent fault that takes time to diagnose. The 24.9 kg weight is on the heavier side of the 2024 enduro class. The platform is discontinued, replaced by the 2025/2026 SyncDrive lineup, so service support continues but the bike will not benefit from any further OTA firmware refresh. The 800 Wh pack adds weight versus the older 625 Wh option, making the bike feel heavier in low-power modes.

Verdict. The Reign E+ 2024 is discontinued but remaining stock represents a genuinely competitive full-power enduro on the secondhand market. Buy a 2024 Reign E+ if you can find one at a discount with the 800 Wh battery, you want the class-leading 105 Nm SyncDrive Pro3 motor, you appreciate Giant's deep global dealer support and you can live with the 24.9 kg weight. Look elsewhere if you want the latest 2026 SyncDrive Pro4 platform, sub-23 kg lightweight, or simply the freshest design. The 2024 Reign E+ remains a credible enduro choice for the right buyer with the right discount.
