Yet another problem with my brand new (3 rides) rail.

It also drags the silicone into the suspension degrading the oil.
Sure, perhaps to a small extent. The oil it mixes with is just the stuff in the aircan that's there for shits and giggles. The oil that's doing the actual damping is seperate.

I have this silly routine. On certain days I ride and maintain trails. On other days I ride and maintain my bike. Most of the time I ride and have fun. I rinse off the dirt after each ride and (I think I have a syndrome ?) use the proper lubes, grease and pastes during regular maintenance.
Sounds like a lot of work but…

Enjoy wrenching much as riding. Use the off days or poor weather as excuse to be in the garage. Being OCD isn't all bad ;)

I had crash the other day and the dropper still works but the seat can rotate pretty easy. I was about to buy a fox transfer post then I seen there's a plastic key way that's in the bontragers and designed to break in a crash. The key way replacement part is only a few dollars.

Has anyone replaced their bontrager dropper key way parts? I ordered them and need to do it this week. I've read the slop in the seat is gone by replacing these parts.

It's an easy job.
Just unscrew a bolt at the top of the post and unscrew the main collar, then whole inner tube slides out. You then just place the new keys in the grooves.

Thanks, it took ten minutes and the seat is like new after replacing the keys. The old plastic ones were completely flush with the post.

To help anyone else, just unscrew the parts circled in red and take apart and replace the two keys. I unscrewed the dropper thumb switch from the bars and it was easy to pull the slack cable through the frame to remove the entire dropper.
