Levo Gen 4 Will Spesh update Levo 4 motor to 750w !!

Motor power on the specialized bikes is maxed out with additional power added from humans.
They take their chances on the sworks frames.
To produce a frame to accept higher power motors take planning in order to achieve a sensible failure rate.
It's quite obvious that the manufacturers using Bosch motors have discussed this with Bosch ahead of the gen 5 roll out and made adjustments to frame capacity to accommodate this.
Specialized are not privvy to information from Bosch.
The Bosch manufacturers have also been obviously instrumental in the outputs regarding legislation .

Buy a bike with a Bosch gen 5 motor and enjoy the silence....😁
You think Specialized didn't design their frame to cope with the specs of their own motor...?

Trolls are gonna troll.... you had me at... well you never had me because what you wrote demonstrates you have ZERO understanding of engineering and design principles.. let alone insight to either the Bosch or Bros motor... Point
"Specialized are not privvy to information from Bosch." I never knew, I thought all companies share industry secrets, thank you for enlightening me

Bosch gen 5 (current 85 Nm version) is subjectively louder than the Spesh 3.1, at least in the Cube One77 I tried. Also the Spesh 3.1 sound signature is more pleasing to my ears.

I understand prices are relative to your location, so in the US Specialized is that crazy expensive.

thats amazing you can get a Amflow Pro for $14.5 Aus -->$9.3K US

Maybe next time I am there I will pick one up, because that is a deal.

I actually made a typo! Amflow Pro is $14k

ALL ebikes whine a bit one way or another, as it's an electric motor, can't hide it.

What's more annoying is the clunck that appears on the way down.

True but there are far better options available.
I’m in the hunt for a new bike and want to hear these better options. It would have to be a 150/160 bike, so the Bullit is out. Maybe the Regulator and Vala, but other than that, there’s not much out there. The Forbidden is uglier than the Levo.

I’m guessing the Forbidden looks better in n the paint than in still images.
Unno Mith is another or Mondrakers look cool.

If your not chasing mullet out of the box, again, not because I own it, but the new Crafty really ticks alot of boxes. I just put a 600wh battery in mine and at 22.3 kgs / 49 lbs without the pedals is sure does rides really incredible. Since it's so easy to swap with a 800wh battery I think it's a killer deal.

The only downside (for some, for me it's not an issue honestly) is the lack of port for the new Kiox display but the upcoming updated ones already have it.

Not sure if you seen this but Brian rode this bike close to you in Fairfax and came on top of many other highers speced / price bikes :

True, but most of the noise is attributed to gearing (internal drive unit transmission) not the electric motor itself. Depending on the implementation noise can have different levels/characteristics.
Previous version Brose motors had a 1st stage reduction using plastic helical(lower noise) planetary gear and 2nd stage reduction using a carbon belt and pulleys. Less whining, still have some noise but it feels more refined. And no metal gear backlash means no clunking on the way down. To me it's still the benchmark regarding noise/feel as I haven't tried the Avinox or latest Specialized/Brose motor. To me, the quieter the motor is (also smooth power delivery) the more you can forget you're on an electric bike, that's what an assisted MTB should be. While I enjoyed the noise on a Panasonic GX ultimate(in a car's world it sound like a gasoline normally aspirated engine), making me gearing all the time, lol, I was on a public road and felt more like on a motorized vehicle than on a bike. My current Ebike collection is "powered by Brose" with one exception, a TSDZ2(with open source firmware) converted 29" hardtail bike. Still use my gen1 Levo with 1.3 motor and custom made 576Wh battery(same case, same weight). What a quiet ebike.

Did you rode a Bosch CX5? It's dead silent going down, I think that's where it matters the most and I'm not sure besides the small TQ how many other brands can relate.

Shimano rattles
New Brose rattles
DJI Avinox rattles.

Climbing, while I haven't ridden all motor out there, all of them made a whine : some higher, some lower, but still present. Not that bothering from my point of view.

How do you like the seatpost Insertion length 🤔 and what is your dropper length at wich bike size and height?

Thanks. I watched that shootout a few days ago and they most definitely raved about this bike.. My LBS also sells this bike, along with Pivot, Specialized, Orbea and more but prefer to stay away from Euro centered bike companies.

It's not the best case scenario, but still found a good option. The stock 180 was a bit to short for me. I'm 6 foot regular body size with a normal 85-86 inseam . In my Pivot Firebird I like my dropper slammed down completely and I'm glad I could fit the V2 240 One Up totally in . This wasn't possible with the Mondraker so I've got a 210 mm V3 and got a shorter stack seat (Prolongo Proxim W450) and it's perfect for the climbs and still fine with it dropped for moving it around the trails. Bike is M/L size.

Received the 600wh battery in the meantime and it's much more playfull at 22.7 kg with pedals. Santa Cruz and Transition were on to something with this battery and delivering a bike unde 23 kgs / 50 lbs . The advantage of the Mondraker is that you can easily swap the 800wh (less than a minute) and either super long days , full day up and down in a park or just a longer day on the trails, the 800wh covers easily over 2000 m 6500 feet of vertical in Tour+ & Emtb for a 85 kg rider.

Hey thanks for taking the time for a detailed anwser. I am pretty aware of the difference in ride feel of an 800 vs a 625 battery on an ebike.

I have a Giant Reign that originaly came with a 625 and then swapped it for an 800Wh, the truth is that the 800 was mostly unused until I sold the 625.
I am a bit smaller at 178cm with an 83 inseam and 90kg+, getting pretty similar(a bit shy of 2000m due to system weight 26,5kg bike +me) altitude results with the bike.

I am looking for a lighter ebike cca 22 to 23kg, so looking at the Crafty frameset although can't find the M/L size anywhere.

I have a 200mm dropper on my Reign(seat tube 425 vs Crafty 435) now and it's almost slammed in. When dropped my dropper rails are cca 53cm from the BB which is perfect for my saddle when dropping the legs when stopped and especially great for freedom of movement when going downhill.

The max Insertion height for the M/L is 235mm as far the info I got from Mondraker. I was thinking going with an 180mm dropper for the Crafty if I would find a frameset although I don't want to make any compromise. Could you measure what the distance from the BB to the dropper rails when dropped is and how much off the dropper(up to the seal lip edge) is sticking out of the seat tube, then I can make the calculations for the one up 180mm. Thanks✌️

I just measured my One Up , from the rails to the BB is 53-54 cm so I'm sure the 180 would fit really well .

Right now from the seat collar (minimum insertion point) to the dropper collar is 60 mm. With the stock 180 On-Off dropper slammed to the maximum is 25-27 mm.

sorry for the offtopic :Now I noticed that you are from Slovenia :) We can chat more maybe privately as I know a few guys there with Emtb, one just bought a Crafty and another I think has done almost all trails available on a Sight VLT . Been to Bled / Bohinj with the regular bike but traveled many times around , all the way to Kranj ;) Pohorje being a must have many times, every year.

Sure, no problem, that sounds great. Let's not trash this thread with off topic stuff, thanks for info ✌️

I hope so.
It was from someone who likes to think he has inside information (usually right TBF)

Visited J E James cycles yesterday and asked to see an S-Works Levo.......They called Specialized directly to be told no more S-Works (in S5 at least) would be available again! And the Pro would not be available until January '26 (again in S5)
No reason to make stuff up, and we were in earshot to at least the shops side of the call.

Make of that what you will.......we were gobsmacked.

Well I had posted this else wear, but when the tariffs were announced there was a lot of panic buying... and ya smoked the inventory

Seriously no more ever?! I was looking at buying a Levo. I’m S5 and would buy the S-Works. Maybe means more likely they’ll be releasing an update sooner rather than later.

They stuffed up IMO. They should have release more stock for the more powerful motor in the larger sizes, as taller people tend to weigh more and place a higher importance on the higher output.

No more S-Works was the implication but I just can’t take it seriously.
Though, the theory did cross our minds that with the S-Works out of the way, it does clear the space to boost the power on the remaining models which makes them more market competitive 🤷🏼‍♂️

So a plethora of new DJI powered bikes at Eurobike. Come on Spesh it’s time to react to your ever growing competition and offer a power upgrade to your loyal customers.
