Whyte Karve Evo

"""Thank you for your message and interest in Whyte Bikes!

Thanks for getting in touch. As the bikes are not in dealers yet, there is still a limited amount of hands-on setup information available at this stage.

As a guideline, the weight should be around 24–25kg.

The rear shock size is 230 x 62.5mm, and yes, a coil can be fitted with no problem."""

Going to make a spread sheet to see what could be changed to save weight. Would be nice to get a weight for the none evo version too.

Seems to be getting heavier and heavier, saw some wild predictions of 18kg at the start :D
Please share your spreadsheet & thanks for sharing this 👌

From what I remember seeing, potential weight savings:

- SRAM X0 Cassette
- Carbon Cranks Arms
- Carbon Wheels
- Carbon Bars

I reckon that would save only around 800g - 1kg

Lighest way of doing it likely to buy the NON EVO and get the full carbon bike, and change it out to DH spec

For me it's a fun thing to think about but when you work out the extra costs.... It's like yeah narh

Could go one up dropper to save weight as well.
600 watt battery ofc
Do all that then it's in the 22s

Agree - Even my demo £10K+ Orbea Wild is 23.7 KG

Fcuk all you can do to these enduro sleds without spending a ton of cash or just accept their gonna smash the DH extremely well and give up some of that playfulness on the more tame / twisty trails.

My old 2022 kenevo expert with schwalbe tyres weighed in about 26kgs, so 25kg is a slightly lighter bike, so its not like I will be going to a heavier bike, so winner winner chicken dinner

I think the weight and size of a rider also has an impact, smaller lighter riders probably prefer a lighter bike as its more playful, but im 5'10 and weigh 90kgs so i prefer a heavy bike as it feels a bit more stable

I’m 5’7 and 78kg. Hope I get on ok with my evo rsx medium

One of these Enduro bikes at 20kg would be awesome, hopefully CATL condensed batteries make it to the EBikes at some point. I don't need more power or range just what we have now in a lighter package.

Got any suggestions for carbon wheel upgrades for the whyte? I only really know reserve downhill rims.

Sold my Kenevo Expert… now bikeless.

The 2022 Kenevo Expert is gone, and the new Whyte Karve EVO RSX (heavily modded ) is on the way. Absolutely buzzing for it… but right now I’ve got no bike at all and the weather is unreal. Typical.

To make it worse, my mate has just sent me pics of my old Kenevo on the trails we use to ride. Seeing someone else out enjoying my old bike while I’m sat here bikeless is emotional.

Honestly though, I’m seriously longing for the RSX to land. EXT shock, gold bits, full 29er, the whole dream build… can’t wait to get back out and send it again. Feel like a kid waiting for Christmas.

Anyone else been through the “sold the old bike, waiting for the new one, weather turns perfect” torture? Come on Whyte get your finger out and get my bike built, 16th July seems like a year away at the moment.

Gonna hold on to my levo for another month, just in case there’s any delays.

Hope it all goes smooth for you and the bike comes through on the scheduled date. Just use this period as a scheduled rest period. You’ll appreciate the karve much more when you get out on that first ride.

I was just looking at the posts on Avinox MG gearbox unit and thinking would this be able to fit in the same space as the M2S?

Anyone having a wobble on a Whyte Evo order after seeing what is out next year from eurobike? Mainly the Avinox MG? Luckily I still have my Kenevo 🤔

Looks bigger?
would be very surprising if it wasn't. The mount bolt positions look the same, but I think theres more bulk (even if not larger dimensions) above the axle and on the lower half. It would kind of make sense so that manufacturers could use the same frame for both motor options.

Came here to say the same thing. Realistically this is a year to 18 months behind, and I sort of have a vague policy of not buying the first generation of anything - let someone else do the real world testing and bug fixing - but there weren't really any issues with the Avinox gen 1 (nor have I heard of any on the Pinion MG).

Na, there will always be something new on the horizon. It’ll probably take a couple of versions of the gearbox before it’s running sweet. I’ll change my bike in 2 years, we’ll see what’s available then.

The karve EVO RSX is a beast and we’re (hopefully) weeks away from receiving them.

👍 i did see that someone who had a ride on the new MG at eurobike said it was better than the M1 for a pre production motor? 🤔🤔👌

Well hopefully get some new karve videos soon
