Saw the thread below, thought I'd share my first eBike. Riding MTBs over 30 years. Based FoD/Yat. Had loads of bikes, currently: Cotic BfE, Santa Cruz 5010 and Santa Cruz Bronson. No real interest in eBikes until this year. Felt I was "giving up" and "losing my fitness", etc. We do a lot of big days 50km+/1300m+ and they were getting increasingly hard (esp after missing last summer with a broken collarbone). Even so, I was holding out... until... I rode a fairly tired V1 Orbea Rise for a week in the South Tyrol in an all ebike group.
I was absolutely sold. All the fun I remembered, none of the angst of "one more climb". Really wanted a e-5010, so after some research bought this:
Good price from a local shop. No changes other than grips. I have ordered the K400 display. I have better wheels, longer dropper, nicer bars brakes to go on it, but after five rides (in 6 days), I'm not in a rush to upgrade it. Have invisiframed it as the paint is so nice.
Uphill, yeah all the ebike things especially on climbs I've ridden 100s of times on my other bikes. Downhill the low CofG, (relatively) low weight suits the way I want to ride. It seems a lot more poppy than the Orbea (that felt low at the front) and it corners brilliantly. Then you get to do it all again
I did one ride in turbo all teh way round and that was just funny. Great fun but I'm not making a habit of it.
From riding in the lower modes (set up with Eco +1, Tour+ -1, eMTB and eMTB+ left standard) I can easily get 1000m ascent without extender. With extender, well as much as I want to do in a day. Not giving up my other bikes. Going to do one month on the eLyte then go try my 5010 again. Probably on my own so I don'thave to share the misery. Expect to lose some low end "grunt" fitness, but so far cardio wise Garmin says I'm working as hard. My guess is HR is lower but because I'm not stopping, the average is similar.
Anyway having way too much fun right now. Glad I waited as long as I did. No regrets two weeks in.
