Why Don't EMTBs Use the Shimano Alfine Internal Geared Hub?

Just wondering why we don't see any of the EMTB manufacturers using the Shimano Alfine internal geared hub.

Maybe the gear ratio is not wide enough?

Because the hub won't take the abuse of riding off road - plenty of E-Bikes use the Alfine, but they are commuter bikes.

Rolhof make a hub gear system that is suited to off road use, and there are some bikes using it, such as the Geometron E-Boxx

Realistically though for aggressive mountain biking a hub gear adds a lot of weight exactly the you don't want it, and I for one would not want one - for commuting it would be my first choice.
