What's been the most Helpful Upgrade to your Whyte?

Having tried some other saddles i don't mind the whyte one. What did you replace it with?
Ergon SMC Sports Gel......... I have that saddle on both of my bikes. Original Whyte one was too narrow for me...........same for every bike I buy!!

I didn't get on with the dropper lever you get with the cheaper Whyte-branded seatposts. Stiff actuation, too close to the grip and couldn't get it positioned under the bar where I wanted it as it hit the brake lever. So replaced it with one with more adjustment + better action.

Other than that, my usual Bel Air mk1 saddle, GA2 grips and a more rear-specific WTB tyre. The rest is pretty good IMO.

On my 2020 e150rs:

Ergon ga2 fats. Love these, find deathgrips too harsh.

Dhr on the rear as an upgrade to the high roller that came on the bike, this tyre and some trickstuff power brake pads transformed the bike for me. Could actually stop!

Just the kiox and Hope F20 pedals fitted on mine. Kiox really good bit of kit. Especially the security issue with it, but already been mentioned in an earlier post. Thats all as bike is perfect for me.

Didn’t get on with the standard grips, so swapped the out for some DMR Deathgrips but quite like the stock saddle. My 2020 came with a DHF up front so that was swapped to a 2.5 Shorty for the winter. I think this years bike comes with an Assegai so that won’t be necessary.
Hi what are doing with the original grips? I’ve small hands and find them so comfy. Will you be willing to sell them?

any one adapted a Park Tool bike stand to take a rs180, e bike , I feel the weight distribution to the front is to much for the seat post to take. On a sx800 lappiere i was able to fit the clamp to the top rail ,but on the 180 the gap between the stem post and shock mount is to small.
any ideas?

I've had my bike up on the bike stand a couple of times but i'm really not happy having it hanging off of the seat post either. There's no alternative option in terms of mounting position. If i am working on the bike i either have it upside down on the floor or if just cleaning/chain lubing i'm using the decathlon stand to just prop up the rear.

I did wonder if there might be some interest. MOABS 2 is mostly in my head at the moment. I need to buy some specific tools to build it properly and also find a bit of time. If it works it could be a commercial product. I'll keep you posted.

volspeed :p did a 42.7 mile trip today about 80% of it in eco as it is no longer incredibly tedious on the flat being held back.

but if we are just talking stuff we have changed/added:
nukeproof stem top cap mount
Nukeproof sintered pads
DMR deathgrips having also tried the ergon GE1 evo and the standard whyte ones (which were actually not bad)
DMR v11 pedals
Renthal fatbar 760mm bars (800 standard are a bit wide for me)
Invisiframe
Bottle cage + tool caddy for it
Rear mudhugger and RRP proguard front

Having sat on a few other bikes recently i'm actually quite happy with the whyte saddle. My friends with yeti's sit on what feels like a block of steel. :rolleyes:

I need new tyres soon so torn between getting one new assegai along with some E-Wilds to run until spring when i swap back to the assegai's. They are almost too grippy for the riding i'm doing during poor weather.
How easy was the Volspped to fit and set up.
My bike appears to hit a wall way before assistance stops.

The hardest part is getting the crank off really. there are 2 plugs that come out of the bike behind the cover and plug into the volspeed, these then go back into the bike. it basically just piggybacks off the original loom and you hold down the - button on the purion for 4 seconds to engage/disengage the volspeed. it's simple and quite brilliant.

Hits a wall? One of the things I like about the Bosch is that there’s no wall, unlike other manufacturers.

Well maybe my description isn't great but I've oy done 18 miles pretty much all on EMTB and assistance appeared to sign off early. My normal bike would have been better on way home.
Maybe the extreme cold effected things?

The wall effect isn't so much the motor abrubtly turning off, it is the realisation that many bikes have tyres that are overkill on normal trails/paths. Without the volspeed i was really struggling to pedal more than 1mph faster than the motor cutoff and would be left behind by friends on normal bikes. At first i thought it was really bad but then when i rode their bikes i noticed the drag is almost as bad but the 10kg lighter bike helps.

In eco on flat ground it is no bother to be sitting around 17/18mph which to me is more normal than fighting to get past 16.

I’ve not done many miles on my Whyte yet, but on my Cube there’s no wall. One of the things I like about the bike is the way the motor works in the background, switching on and off is almost unnoticeable. I hope the Whyte is the same, or it’ll be in the for sale section! ?

Whyte e150rs. Upgraded the lyric air piston and gone from 150 to 160 travel, Soooo much better, realistically added 25mm more travel ,no pedal strikes. Also less air needed so a better ride. For less the £50 its a no brainer and easy to do yourself.
FItted a Bike trax gps. Took bike to a specialist shop to get it fitted but they gave up so did it myself. awkward and now jammed down the bottom of the seat tube. works brilliantly and impossible to remove, which is the point, for a way of tracking your bike if it gets nicked. I've got a log of all the journeys the bike has made and is great after a days riding checking mileage on the map. Even sets off an alarm if someone moves it while parked. Has its own nicad battery which lasts about a month if you don't ride the bike. anyway I sleep well at night. Can show you how to fit if you want.

I like that setup, I’m gonna swap my dropper lever over tomorrow when I’ve done lubing my chain, it looks like it should have been like that from new, many thanks for the pictures mate ?
