We know that there is currently a numbers game being played out between the motor manufactures but all the new features being delivered I can't help but think it's not something that I want or need.

So as actual users of eMTBs - what would you like to see?

More power?
More efficiency?
Cheaper prices?
Lighter bikes?
100% waterproof motors
Less motor noise

Got to be a lightweight and efficient MGU (integrated motor/gearbox) - that's the next big thing!
+1 for this combined with better energy density batteries.

20kg for a 180mm/180mm zeb/coil rear mgu with hot swappable equivalent to 800wh battery in a 400wh weight would be the holy grail for me. Oh the mgu unit has to be as refined as a bosch or dji mu.

I've got more power than I need on my Rise so 'more power' is not something I need. FWIW I'm not bothered by the fairly quiet whine from the motor either. But eMTBs are expensive and the motors are still not as robust as one might hope. The Rise is <19kg but lighter with more range for less money would all be nice though.

I'd also like a bike that has lively handling/steering and doesn't fall into slow turns and has a long enough reach to not give me backache. I don't care about going as fast as possible downhill (that just makes the crashes hurt more, not that I go fast enough to crash now I'm in my '70's 😂 ) I want a bike that rewards finesse so 68º HA, <1100mm wheelbase, 27.5" wheels, low stack and long reach, i.e. about halfway between my old 26er G3 and the Urrun/Rise. <16kg would be a nice bonus but I suspect the >£16k price tag would put it firmly out of reach...

evolving frames / standardized mounting point for motor.
Frames produced in EU / US
revved carbon frames
more high grade alu frames
titanium frames (welded in the right season ! )

My list
-> Lighter bikes
-> More efficient motor systems
-> Changeable batteries with simple mechanisms
-> Fewer gears and/or MGU's

standarized chargers and connectors,
quiet & long lasting motors,
lighter batteries,
support upto 35 km/h allowed,
more power ports and integration with wireless equipment.
