Personally I think this is genius! I’ve just ordered one. Thanks ??
Yeah me too. I haven't smashed an RD but have been out riding with someone who has and and they had to push their bike about 2kms to the nearest access track and then get another mate to try and find him with a pickup.

That fidlock bottle makes me want to get a spare bottle, remove the magnetic attachment and rivet it to a little tool/tube bag. Not sure if it would actually work well, but seems fun to do anyway.

Bought a small piece of aluminum and made myself a bash guard. :) 811E818C-E226-4134-BFAB-319DF8F01006.jpeg011BB1C0-130D-436D-9306-C88B1960C633.jpeg

I bought some DMR death grips, (a Park Tool dummy hub, some Muc-off ceramic wet lube Father’s Day presents from my daughter) a sheet of Kydex and some chain link pliers to keep in my back pack

I like that, I’ve bought some Kydex to do something similar, anyone who has a Whyte Emtb will know about the shifter cable and brake hose hanging down under the motor so I’m gonna make a guard for protecting them ?

Sounds interesting, let us know how you get on as those cables are a worry.

Yeah no worries mate, they are a worry, I’m gonna fit a new brake outer and inner and shorten it a little then I’m gonna make the guard, not quite sure how I’m gonna do it yet but I do know it can only be attached at the front end and removable for cleaning so, also it’ll need to be loose at the back end but if it’s bent up slightly in the manufacturing stage it should be under enough tension not to flap about whilst I’m riding, that’s the idea anyway ?

Sounds good. I get my bike tomorrow so will have to see what I will do about it. I am kind of hoping Whyte have addressed the issue, or will address it soon. But I can’t wait to ride it ?

Enjoy mate, it’s a brilliant bike, best thing I’ve bought in years ?

Unexpectedly I found myself buying a new cassette due to some bent teeth on the second from the largest cog. At only 500 miles I was disappointed to have to make this purchase, and since the shop didn't have SLX I had to go with the XT which cost an additional $40. Hopefully the upgrade will be more long-lasting than the original part.

Pretty sure that they will work on any chain with one of those main links
It should do.

Thanks guys,

It does sound obvious that they should, but some I've looked at on eBay and Amazon (not like this one) have comments/reviews saying they won't work with 11/12 speed chains. Hope they do though, look perfect for a mini tool kit with a mini price to match.

Finally got my replacement derailleur hangers (one for the jersey pocket just in case) and the BMC is back in action!!! Oh threw a new chain on while I was at it. Time to head out for a ride.?

It could be that the tool is too thick to fit the narrow 11 and 12 speed chain. The workshop tool I've got officially doesn't fit 12 speed. It actually does, but is a close fit.

True, but even if it is too thick for 11/12s, no great loss.

I would have attempted to straighten them with a pair of pliers. If that didn't work, I would have snapped them off, or filed them down so that the bent bit was gone. I rode with two teeth missing from a front ring for a year or so without a problem. The second largest cog should give you a similar lack of problem. Small cogs, not so much!
