Sticky soles have a lot to answer for
Really dislike the trend towards angled/rounded outer pedal edges. your pic shows it quite well. The burgtecs would be my choice out of those for that reason alone.
I'm a rider who likes to move his feet around a pedal tho and want to be able to roll my foot on a straight(er) outer pedal edge (for feel/control)

I still love these old things

One of my favourites too, they are what's on the bike at the moment, but the pins are mullered in on one of them. In person the Unites and Burgtecs are pretty similar, I would say Unite have taken the penthouses as a starting point.

The crank bros are the worst "proper" flat pedal I have used, f all grip IMEand weird shape. One Ups are very grippy, but the bearing position puts your feet out toO far for my liking. The composite HT's are great, and super cheap, I just dont like the shade of blue and I am a tart like that. I like the Penthouses, but get a lot of crank rub with them as they sit super close to the crank arm, and have previously done my toes a mischief due to this ( the newer MK 5's sit further out).

I switched out my rear shock to X2's on both bikes (Shuttle and Hightower) and the Grip 2 has a bit more planted/plush feel once set up and balanced better with the X2. PR = personal record. 10 seconds on a 2:30 segment is a BIG improvement. Overall the Grip 2 has more adjustability and if you're willing to put a little time in on setup you can get it dialed in perfectly.

Burgtec composites do too. You'd probably like them, no idea if their take on correct shade of blue lives up to your standards though. ;)

I really don't mind a pedal body close to my cranks but do prefer them not to have any weird bulge on the inside (whetherit be from larger bearings or just hoopty design). my shoe soles spend quite a bit of time resting/sliding on my crank arms while riding anyway so I'm used to crank face scuffing being a common sight on all but my road bike cranks.
 
Its not the scuffing, I dont mind about that, I like being close to the cranks, but the burgtecs are so close that I have caught the front of my shoe on the crank before and had it buck me off. I still have em on the hardtail though, but I find I ride that more and more in Vans which are a narrower shoe than the 5-10's, and work nicely with them.

I am not that fussy about pedals, they only one I genuinely wouldn't want to have on a bike are the crank brothers, apart from that the decent ones are all much of a muchness

Do they match? Of course not :eek::p:ROFLMAO::D
 
This week I have purchased my bike a new fabric Scoop radius saddle.
Only got my bike a week ago but I’ve spent a long time in the saddle already.
Last ride was 65 miles and 7 hours in the (very uncomfortable) saddle.
 
Seems all rather heavy stuff to carry around for the one in a million chance I’ll get a snapped chain

Well you won't need to carry the chain gauge - it'll be too late for that. No point in carrying the pliers. I assume that you'll be using a speed link for the repair. Those pliers are not suitable for installing a speedlink.

Apart from the chain breaker, all you need to carry with you is a bit of bent wire with a hook at each end to hold the chain while you join it on the top with the speedlink. You then "click" this home with a sharp stamp on the pedals. It's not kind to speedlink but we are talking here about a trailside repair and not normal maintenance.

If that bothers you, just carry a spare pin which you can use your chain breaker to reinstall.

(Don't join the chain on the bottom at trailside with a speedlink unless you have the proper pliers. It's really hard to snap the link in place by hand).

Where did you get the brake caliper screws? AliExpress? I'm in the process of changing all my silver screws to these (and a few black ones!)
Are the Fox stickers actually metallic, and do they have the iridescent / rainbow / oil slick sort of look when you move them? If so - where are they from? I was trying to find some RockShox Lyric ones, but can only find flat coloured ones that look metallic.
