Riding conditions/terrain are going to make a big difference on how much you spend and what you have to replace. Living in dry/rocky mountains we replace brake pads and tyres A LOT (it also dictates which tyres and brakes pads we use), but we rarely change a chain/cassette (Normally we do 4000+ km before needing to change) and we definitely don't spend anything on our annual bike wash.

This is just me but a regular bike costs more to maintain and use than the eebs.
Ignoring the consumable parts, I'm finding that after a long ride on a regular bike, I'm wolfing down the 10 piece bargain bucket of KFC with a side of hot wings vs a cheese and onion sandwich after a ride with E-Power.
Not to mention the money spent on specific tools to install service and re-install bottom brackets (Stupid Sram dub PF30?).

Looking at the positive as I do, and to use one of my favourite witticisms "at the end of the day we are all one day closer to death" so I am aiming to put more life in my days, rather than days in my life. We can all get more money, but no one on their death bed said I wish I hadn't spent so much money on having fun..........But answering the question, so far including the vehicle I bought to cart my bike about in, after 400 miles it has cost me £37.50 / mile:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

$995 this season so far, and part of last season when i bought it...so roughly 1 full season. I bought used so some of these are not typical every year:

$300 newer/slightly used sram gx 11 spd cassette
$450 newer/slightly used Shimano e8020 battery (ebay score yay!) Mine I think is rather reduced range from new
$40 new chain
$45 new front brake pads
$10 dot 5 brake fluid for bleed
$150 newer/slightly used set of 2.8 tires
- will need full suspension service at end of this season for sure front and back...

That sounds pretty cheap, where from?

Merida eOne-Sixty 9000

View attachment 66410

I have this exact bike. A 2020 Merida e160 9k.

It's okay, but it's markedly inferior to the Trek Rails a couple of mates ride. The Bosch motor is slightly better, the Bosch batteries are a lot better, and the Trek geometry is superior.

The Merida isn't really long enough, and it doesn't like steep tech climbs (although playing with the low speed compression on the rear shock and dropping the bars helps). The Shimano batteries are woefully bad, they disintegrate at a rate that has me considering court as Madison are not interested.

I would NOT buy again.

3 peaks cycles in Settle, he done me a bit of a deal on them.
I only needed a rear but he sells them in pairs.
I was really lucky, I was struggling to get a wheel for tomorrow and was through there on holiday and just called in

Budget ebike test with winner canyon for 5.6 k euros.. really budget! hahaha EMTB lost "reality feeling" I am happy that here are many helpful people on this forum, otherwise I would be long gone

Im now pulling my hair out trying to remember which Pink Floyd track has the line " short of breath and one day closer to death "...grrrrr!!!!
I think its on "Dark Side Of The Moon"..
Edit : The track is "Time" ..and the full line is " The sun is the same in a relative way ..but you're older ..
Shorter of breath ..and one day closer to death "..
Nice cheery thought to start the day ..?
Edit 2: ..It at least gave me an excuse to post this ..not sure if it was recorded on the night I was there but as a spectacle its still the greatest gig Ive ever seen ..
Trivia : The blonde backing singer is Sam Brown who had a hit with " Stop " ..later recorded by Joe Bonamassa..
