Velduro Rogue 170/165 mullet Enduro with DJI

I guess that will be without a shock. Also hope thats vat inclusive. Annoyingly uses trunnion so my 230x65 ohlins or ext shocks won't fit. Nor my oneup droppers as they are 34mm rather than the 31mm seat tube on this.
Looks like we will get the full picture though within a month or so.

I’m more inclined to believe the price now after seeing that Trek is offering the new Fuel+ as a frame only at £4400.

I personally like this bike a lot more than the E-Druid and I'm going to have to place it on my very short list: The Regulator CX, the Spectre, & the Velduro. All 3 standout to me in unique ways, but this one really hits the most points.

This thing is a really intriguing prospect.
The only thing that has me a little worried about the Rogue is the chatter I'm reading about the rattle of the Avinox motor in the Crestline threads. Having owned a Wild with the new Gen 5 motor I don't know if I can go back to having a rattle box motor.

interesting, the wheel path extends quite a bit more when run as a mullet, maybe the chainstay length at sag is not as short as i thought:

If you have a gen 5 wild why on earth do you need to change? Just for decadence purposes?

I work in the industry, I get new bikes every 10-12 months. We're looking at becoming a dealer for Velduro so I'd like to try one. I like trying brands we sell so that I can give honest opinions on them. We sell Cannondale, Transition, Orbea, AmFlow, Forbidden and looking at selling Velduro bikes now that they have a Canadian distributor.

Heard the uk stock won't be here till march 2026, so winding the excitement levels down a few notch's till then.
Not really an issue as i don't ride over winter anyway.

Dont like getting cold, wet and ruining my bike! Mtb is a summer hobby for me.
People say it's always raining here, it really isnt and being retired im not limited to weekends.
 
Haha fair enough, I'd go insane if I stopped riding through the winter because it got a bit colder and wetter. Although up here in Scotland it's like thag year round really 😂

If you can check it will definitely take a mechanical derailleur (and dropper). Im led to believe it can, but have only seen wireless sram stuff fitted.
Maybe query them on their sizing recommendations? The reach numbers appear short for suggested height.

  1. Weigh the bike and provide size and build spec, if possible.
  2. Pay attention to idler design and build as this can be a wear point and and source of noise.
  3. In general, pay attention to noise with the bike. How much do you think is attributed to idler/chain versus motor noise.
  4. Another anecdotal sampling of DJI/Avinox motor noise would be appreciated (pedalling vs. downhill), as it seems motor noise is all over the map depending on motor labelling, bike design, and other intangibles. This may be one area where the Rogue high-pivot/idler design may help out with noise, reduced pedal-kickback and chain-whip.
  5. Pay attention to rear suspension lateral flex. The swing arm is actually mounted fore of the seat tube, which implies that is longer than some other designs. This should produce a more stable instant center, but the linkage bearings will take on extra load.
  6. Comments on riding dynamics are welcome. It would be good if you had experience with other high-pivot bikes to compare to other HP bikes that typically have greater axle path growth. If not, then try to tease out the bikes intrinsic performance in technical climbs, corners, downhill, jumps, etc.
  7. If you've owned or auditioned a DJI-powered bike, then you should be able to differentiate the performance of the bike on its own design merits. Otherwise, you will likely be overwhelmed by the DJI motors characteristics flooding your perception of the bike. Most of us already know what DJI brings to the table (vicariously for most of us), so I'm looking what this bike specifically provides. Maybe you can detune the motor before your ride for this reason.

I can reply to some of this!

Idler is stainless steel not aluminum
so should be all good, also confirmed 126 links so just one chain.

One interesting thing I noticed is the rear ends are quite fat towards the hub side of the chain stays and seat stays, like a bowed out design, looked sturdy! I rode a medium at 90kg and 6’3 and was feeling pretty solid, not much flex.

Chainstays length felt really nice, but didn’t get much time on bigger jumps to really suss how axle path felt, smaller jumps it felt really nice! The rear end was so supple though with the fox float X2, felt so good downhill, very plush, like a coil, and felt stable even when too small for me! Though first time on high pivot, so couldn’t speak to other bikes rear end growth, like Druid ebike with crazy chain stay lengths.

Anything else I’d be kind of guessing on, and felt light jumping around! noticeable compared to my current 24.5kg ebike. But unsure of actual weight and size makes a difference to how that feels. They say 22kg-ish.

I think this yellow looks sick, like the Trek Fuel exe 9.9 when it came out. I have just come from like 2 black ebike frames in a row, so it could just be wanting a contrast, but I'm curious what people think of this colour? would go well with Ohlins too.

Thanks for interesting tidbits, but can you hit us with a bit more detail here? You are probably one a few people on the planet that has ridden both of the only high-pivot DJi models on the market. This is exactly the bake-off I'm interested in:
  1. What size was the Druid you tested and was it the Core or the Lite?
  2. You say the bikes feel similar, but in what exact ways? The Druid has longer rear-center and shorter rear travel and longer front-center. The Rogue has longer swingarms and longer instant center, but shorter axle path at the high-pivot. I would have expected more differences based on some reviews coming out on the Druid so far.
  3. How about motor rattle? Did one sound quieter than the other?
  4. Any noise issues at the idler gear between the the two?
  5. Can you tease out performance in corners, technical uphills, and downhills? (trying to stay away from Loam Wolf Bingo terms like playfulness and poppiness). The Rogue is really more of an enduro rig than the e-Druid. Wondering how much this comes into play with your riding experience on this bike.

it was raining shit tons so i only took the velduro on the blue flow half up the mountain for a 10min ride, the forbidden i had longer and was riding it outside the park on a slow enduro track with wet slick rocks. was a s3, can’t really compare them, both felt too short. i thought the velduro was rattling a bit but only on a few harder compressions as it was a blue flow so again hard to judge. all the noise was drained out by the rain rattling on my helmet…

both had those shitty mavens on and unfamiliar bad setuped suspension thats way worse than what i am used to
 
That's a banging colour but it'll clash with my orange forks. :cry:
