Used vs. new?

Hey everyone,

I’m looking for some advice. A friend is selling his Turbo Levo 3 Comp Carbon — super clean bike, has only around 2,000 km, well maintained, but the warranty has expired. He’s asking €3,000.

For about €1,000 more, I could get a brand new Cube Stereo Hybrid 144 with the Bosch CX Gen 5 motor and full warranty.

I’m not sure which way to go. The Levo is lighter and carbon, and I love how it rides, but the Cube has the newest Bosch system and that warranty safety net.

Which one do you think makes more sense overall, performance and reliability wise?

New if it's only 1k different. Plus you could probably get interest free credit on the new bike.
Ideally though, you might want to try the cube too see if it's any different to the levo.

It also depends on component spec - have you compared those? Wheelset? Suspension? Brakes? Drivetrain?

Google tells me that bike was introduced in March of 2021. It's coming up on five years, and Specialized has fixed a lot of problems since then. 3000 euros seems a bit steep.

The Cube was introduced this year, it has a modern motor, and it will come with a warranty. That's where I'd put my money.

As been said, what is the Levo equipped with?… Compare them
Both.. I dropped on a 23 Carbon Levo with Ohlins forks and shock..for 3k.. but only 400 miles…
Is the Cube more Downhill focused ?..
Levo … Allrounder..?….

Thanks everyone for your input! The Levo definitely has the better components since it wasn’t the base model like the Cube, but I think the newer Cube might be the smarter choice overall. I can always upgrade parts later if needed. Cheers.

New easily! The safety net alone for warranty is worth it. If the Levo was £2k though I would be tempted

Too much for secondhand even from a friend .
New is the realistic way to go .

Explain as much to your friend and ask him to cut the price. If he is a friend he should be offering you lower than what he would put it up foe sale to begin with. Although a lot of people seem to be unrealistic about how they price things for the second hand market.
