Upgrading to a full Sus...

Hi Guys,

Purchased my first ebike 2-3 weeks ago... Done 200 miles so far..

Used to cycle loads about 5 years ago, had a kid, got fat and now time to get fit again.. Decided I would do so by cycling to work a few times a week and an ebike would be a good option for this.. My commute is 15 miles and probably 70% of it is off road..

Purchased a hardtail to do my commute on and I am cycling more and more at the weekends on my local trails and I am finding I would benefit from a full suspension ebike..

So my Scott Hardtail is up for sale, see for sale section - For Sale - 2017 Scott E-Scale 920 Electric Hardtail - 1 month old - Includes Bosch Performance CX 2

What next? What full sus? I don’t really want to spend more than 5k. My local bike shop have offered a good deal on a Scott E-Genius 720 which comes with the Shimano Motor, just concerned I am used to the Bosch motor now and will I miss it? I already have second charger at work which as expensive so if I go the Shimano route I will have to buy another charger. I am also a big guy so like the added punch of the Bosch motor, however it is very noisy!

Seen a Cube Stereo Hybrid 160 SL 500 2019 that comes with the Bosch motor but would have to purchase online to get the deal I need.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

Dave.

Specialised Turbo Levo has my vote although I am biased ;)
Regarding the charger I'm sure someone will soon snap that up too.
Try the Levo at your local LBS :)

That’s for the replies.. should I think I will be able to sell on the charger.

My pal has a Levo, they seem very popular.. I am not really a Specialised fan boy.. ;0

Not sure about the Haibike.. likes a little fast and furious for my liking.. Thanks for the recommendation though.

Mondraker e crafty is a great Bosch powered bike and Eddie has a lot of success with the KTM’s.

The Shimano motors have plenty of grunt though, I’m 112kg and have no issues running on a small battery.

My new bike is on order. Went for a Cube Stereo Hybrid 160 Action Team 500. Should turn up early July.

It’s total over kill for my needs and requirements but love the look..

For me and my situation I’ve purchased a more expensive bike with a higher spec. With the trails round here a FS is recommend. I’d consider that an upgrade, downgrade for some perhaps.

Anyone else had their bikes PPF (Paint Protection Film) wrapped? I see a couple of places online offering it and a chap up the road from me does it. Just waiting on a price. I like to keep my things in good condition and my curren FS non ebike is covered in helicopter tape and it’s kept it in really good condition.

Bring on the 1st July!!!

Press pics.

Is the PPF covering any different to the usual protective film kits? Is it more like a full vinyl wrap on cars?

I have heli-tape applied in various areas for protection which has worn through in a couple of places so always interested in hearing about better solutions.

Just waiting for a quote from a local place. I’ll give you details once I know but it sounds like PPF same as cars. You can get screw drivers on a car covered in PPF and it won’t scratch. Assuming some areas need to be thicker.

I think it’s about £100-150 but seems reasonable. I used the heli tape same as you on my normal FS and it’s still in perfect condition. That stuffs just so think it’s difficult to deform around bends so you get little pockets of dirty areas.

Its here.. 300 mile round trip for me this morning..

Found one in stock at Race Co Cycles in Stourbridge.. Richard there sorted me out a great deal, he had loads of stock ready to go..

Just waiting for it to cool down and i’ll be out on it..

Seems a shame to get it dirty..

That's nice. Raceco are pretty good actually, and a Bosch service centre.

There’s a really good EMTB Tuesday evening ride that Pedal Heaven organise. All welcome. Started at the car park next to the Tweseldown Pub just outside Fleet ?
