Hello,

I'm here to ask a stupid / noob / paranormal question.
What are the maximum and minimal chainring size , that can be mounted on E-mtb ?
And of course, what are the limits on each motor (mainly shimano / bosch / brose / yamaha).

I ask this because on my regular MTB, on steep climbs, i'm used to use a bigger chainring than usual, making laugh most of other bikers. But it works for me, heh. The only downside is that the chain doesnt like it much.

Thank you,

Depends on chainstay clearance usually.

Too big and the teeth touch the chainstay at 9 o'clock.

Too small and the chain might not clear the top/bottom of the chainstay.

Then there's anti-squat to worry about if you have rear susp.
