Storing battery in the fridge?

I really hope this was meant as a joke. Heating batteries in a microwave is extremely dangerous. Certain components can overheat, expand, and fail, potentially causing short circuits and severe damage to the battery. There’s also an added risk from eddy currents induced by the microwaves, which can create sparks in metallic parts and even start a fire.

On top of that, microwaves only heat certain molecules—mainly water—by resonating with them at about 2.45 GHz. That’s why dry materials like glass stay cool while food heats up quickly. A battery is not designed to absorb energy that way, so the only likely outcome is damage.

In short, please don’t try this. It’s dangerous and serves no useful purpose.
Exactly, good point.

This is why I always pre-soak my battery in the bath to try and absorb as much water as possible to make the microwaving more effective.

Ideally charged water ion's are better, so I normally drop the hairdryer in the bath at the same time for more effective ion flow.

If it's a joke it's a very dangerous one, considering the level of attention of the average forum reader.
I agree. It was not a good joke. It's dangerous. I'm surprised anyone would take it seriously, but that's the world in which we live, I suppose.

Charge your battery to 60% for winter storage. Check monthly and top off if necessary. Do not store or charge your battery in freezing or extremely hot weather. Do not exceed 40c when charging and do not charge your bike immediately after riding. Do not run your battery below 10% when riding. Don’t charge to 100% unless the ride requires it. Make sure your battery is secure and not rattling around when riding.

I’m sure I missed a few…

Come on now, you clearly have a pretty low opinion of the intellectual capacity of the average emtb forum reader.
Nobody here is dumb enough to put a battery in a microwave and hit the popcorn setting. We would use the "thaw" setting of course !

Handy eco water-saving hint… have a bath at the same time! And if the room starts getting cold..balance your old 2-bar electric fire with the frayed cable on that rickety shelf just above the bath. Thank me later.

Here comes the sheriff, that’s Zimm and me barred from the forum.😠
