Again, The GX chains that are referenced in that article are for Eagle 12 speed, ie, NOT TRANSMISSION.

Again, "With Transmission, I'm guessing the best value service life will be from the GX chain" Emphasis on the word TRANSMISSION!!!

Eagle GX 12 speed is the old stuff.
Transmission GX is the new stuff, with the flattop chains.

You do you. I'm going to spend more time riding and less time fixing and replacing chains. X0 or XX transmission for me.

X0, mine was slightly cheaper at Hopkingsons.
They are crazy prices. The X01 for standard drivetrains is £40.

Just an update, I was given a new 70 chain as a warranty replacement and it's been on the bike now for over 300 miles with no problems, did I initially have one from a bad batch?
I have already bought a new xo as I didn't think the 70 would last.

Well after my last post my Eagle 70 T Type chain snapped at 399km. GX replacement from tredz now on the bike.

Time will tell how this one faires, what from what I an ascertain I should not be degreasing after every ride but the failure looks more mechanical to me. If the new gives out sub 500km I'll be swapping to KMC I reckon.

Yes your failure looks the same as mine.
The side plates breaking.
Don't think it's a wear issue, just not strong enough.

Has anyone tried the KMC t-type specific chains? I didn’t realize anyone made aftermarket chains that were compatible until recently discovering these. I like that you can buy them pre-waxed. No idea on durability though.

I've had good results with KMC chains in the past so would hope the flat tops are no different

I have the gold version to fit to my Teewing Flux. I'm not sure it will be the longest wearing chain. But it will look good.

I'll keep a close eye on stretch.

Something weird happened to my GX chain today at 400 miles. Don’t think it was the chain’s fault necessarily, but it’s getting replaced.

Was riding through a super tight section of trail for a few minutes where all these little bushes were constantly hiring up against my legs and therefore the chain/derailleur as well. Noticed some slipping from my drivetrain and thought the derailleur got messed up and was hopping between gears, but once I got on the road I noticed it matched the cadence of the chain perfectly.

Took it off when I got home and found one link was super tight, could barely move it with my hands at all. I can’t see that anything happened to it but something must have gotten bend based on how hard it is to move, seems like it must be metal on metal and not just some remnant of a stick in there. Never crashed, so I’m confused as to how exactly it happened, but I’m assuming something went awry in that section of trail and did it in.

I have 3 yt decoys with ep8 with Speed delete. I have the 1275 cassette and my boys have 1270. One has the Gx kit and other has the 70 set up. I hot wax all chains and the put Squirt on for rides. I have never broken a chain. My kids? Yes both have multiple times and found the 70 chain broke faster. The both have stripped there gears too and that’s why I got the 1270 for them so I can just replace the smallest 5 gears and not a complete cassette. They both have in boost at all time, usually in the top (small gog) gear and doing wheelies everywhere. (Mostly street riding with hookworm tires) The chains pull the pens apart or break at the links. Chains are never stretched. My 15yr has 4000 plus miles on it and rides everyday.
