Hiya all

I have a vitus sommet carbon with is about 14kg, i want some assistance uphills now but ive found mid motors quite expensive and complicated to fit and maintain, are rear hub motors ok for uphills assistance on trails/mtbing, or will they just be to heavy as the rear and make the bike feel awful??

regards

All of what you say is correct, plus hub drive motors aren't too efficient at going uphill, compared to mid drive at least.

Hub motors are better in every aspect if sized correctly. Grin's simulator has the hard numbers needed to compare. Front hub motors with a proper torque arm installed Is a simple and effective way for help on the way. Weight is really not an issue.
