Hi all, just bought a bike stand and I'm just a bit concerned about clamping my hibike by the seat post. It doesn't look like the idea place for an ebike, what do you recommend,

apart from where you clamp it, if that is your regular servicing area I would suggest fixing a hook to the wall and use a couple of bungee straps or similar from the hook, around the bike stand, and back to the hook. It just gives a bit more stability.

I'd use it outside in the good weather but in my shed otherwise, its the clamping position I concerned about, using the seat post on an ebike seems a bit risky looking at the diameter of the post.

I have the same workstand - clamping by the seat post is fine as long as there is no significant bending moment applied.

I also clamp on the top tube of the frame - making sure I dont have the clamp so tight it crushes the carbon fibre.

There's been lots of discussion and vids about this. Yes it is safe to support your bike from the seat post. BUT:
  • The dropper MUST be fully extended
  • Please make sure your clamp and post are clean first
