As if it is surprising.
Exactly , alot of YT Fanboys especially in the US were quite condescending when some of us complained about how YT treated customers in Europe and UK , took money , no bike , no recourse unless paid by credit card then some PR crap from the owner , then release new Decoy and expect people to buy them , sorry for the Brand and the people who worked there , but more sorry for everyone who got burned by them , especially in the UK , had a Decoy previously , but I would never trust them with my money again , friends of mine got burned buying in the last sale , then they went belly up , live uncaged my ass , well the owner is for sure with other people money ! if it comes back in some form , what credibility will it have ........

Personally I had a poor experience with them. I ordered a bike and paid in full back in 2020 that was 'in stock' with a delivery date within a week or so, turns out it wasn't in stock and when I asked to cancel and for a refund it took them over a month to process it.

Sounds like they never really got their processes in order, shame as the products were good and who knows where they would be now if they had a different maangement team.

This could well effects all the other “direct sales“ companies, because lets face it, would you pay upfront, thousands of pounds to a company in the UK, let alone one in another country, then not know if you will actually get a bike! Not me, I want to collect from a dealer, so pay a deposit, then when the bike is ready to collect, go to said dealer, look the bike over, once happy, pay for bike and go away happy.

Whoever came up with this direct sale model, certainly did not have the customers in mind!

l think you missed out the key word.......

imho the key to success is trust and unfortunately it doesn't matter how great a product might be, if the consumer has very little faith or trust in an industry, due to reoccurring failures and scandals, any other business with a similar perceived risk is likely to suffer.

Yes indeed,

Yes, especially with the marketing department. I had a discussion with a vendor that works directly with the company, his comment about the deficiencies within the organization was primarily regarding the experience of the marketing team. He did not have great things to say about the guy on top either.

I've had 2 YT ebikes, and in neither case have I had any trouble getting service or support, quite the opposite, quickly returned emails and helpful, but yes in the USA. I hope this doesn't sound condescending to report the truth about my own experience. As to the financial troubles, I would predict that YT will be fine long term, sucks if you have a bike in Europe it at the moment it sounds. It would be interesting to understand how ownership is structured for YT USA...

As to having the consumer in mind, at least the YT's of the bike business give you max bang for buck. Most dealer represented brands are way overpriced, so that to me is having the customer in mind. One shouldn't expect dealer level service from a direct-to-consumer so either you take the risk and save bank or spend the extra grands to have peace of mind, but that choice you make or made is/was yours. Propain anyone?

So who was designing the bikes? Who has ownership of the bike design? Who owns the relationship with the suppliers, who owns the moulds for the CF frames? Is any part of YT USA owned by the owner of YT Europe (Markus?) How can YT USA be unaffected?

Wouldn't bet my money on that outcome, be interesting to revisit this post a year from now.

I ordered my Decoy core 5 8th of June. It was delivered the 9th of September 2025. Due the restructuring . I received an email that they where restructuring and my order was om hold. Then that my bike would be delivered, end of August. Delivery went smoothly, good communication. After delivery emails with tips for better riding and an mail to review the delivery. Awesome bike. So I think you will get your bike. YT will stay, I am sure. Top quality bikes.

I bought my YT Capra in 2014. They said 7 weeks delivery. It was my first internet purchase of a complete bike. All the reviews were five star.

It was delivered exactly on 7 weeks, but there was absolutely zero communication from them as to progress. There were no replies to emails and I could not get through on the phone. I even had a fluent German speaker ring them up and she got absolutely nowhere.

OK, they did exactly what they said and the bike was fantastic, but it was bad for the nerves. I didn't buy another from them.

Dont understand how many people believe the fairytale that YT US is somehow totally unaffected. YT is a German company with its HQ and factory located there.

I think that we are in an age of believing things that make us feel good. Its a better life with the Easter bunny and the Tooth Fairy :) Seriously there is a case to be made for the feeling of well being.

So, I am a little confused. I bought a Decoy November 2024 - at a rock-bottom price (thank goodness), the product, and my original support experience were awesome. Then there was the period after the German restructuring, where phone support dwindled, but emails were returned. Now the US phone support outgoing message has changed again to "No support" and emails are not returned, whatsoever. I have warranty issues, and parts needs, has anyone out there had any recent interaction with YT US support at all?

The last I heard YT USA is not affected by the restructuring of the Euro division.
LBS distributer cant get replacement parts?

I read the same thing, but don't really understand what it means for American riders. It's not that I'm risk averse, but there's no way I'd throw down my cash on a YT when there are so many good bikes available from solid companies.

Absolutely YT is a good brand/bike but I would’nt drop cash on one.
Kinda like what happened to Canyon about a year ago.
Do your due diligence before spending your hard earned $.

Wouldn't chuck my money their way (or Canyon for that matter), plenty of nice bikes from other reliable sources.

Sad? Hardly. Good riddance.
Wow, I get that perhaps you don't like the brand, or the personality and actions of YT's senior staff - but a lot of us couldn't afford a Specialized, or Trek ebike. Many of us gave our hard-earned dollars for an entry-level ebike, that may now need warrenty, parts, and support in general. So I sure hope whatever pricey bike brand you chose to buy, doesn't fall victim to the complex, unpredictable, and ever-changing market woes that most of the global bicycle industry is experiencing now. BTW, my Core 1 Decoy, although crashed, and rough-up from use, is an amazing, well designed, and robust ebike, at any price in my book.

As you were.

I get it. It sucks. But the outcome was predictable once Ardian acquired the company. Caveat emptor.
