Exactly , alot of YT Fanboys especially in the US were quite condescending when some of us complained about how YT treated customers in Europe and UK , took money , no bike , no recourse unless paid by credit card then some PR crap from the owner , then release new Decoy and expect people to buy them , sorry for the Brand and the people who worked there , but more sorry for everyone who got burned by them , especially in the UK , had a Decoy previously , but I would never trust them with my money again , friends of mine got burned buying in the last sale , then they went belly up , live uncaged my ass , well the owner is for sure with other people money ! if it comes back in some form , what credibility will it have ........As if it is surprising.
"Whoever came up with this direct sale model, certainly did have the customers in mind!"
l think you missed out the key word.......
Whoever came up with this direct sale model, certainly did NOT have the customers in mind!
imho the key to success is trust and unfortunately it doesn't matter how great a product might be, if the consumer has very little faith or trust in an industry, due to reoccurring failures and scandals, any other business with a similar perceived risk is likely to suffer.
Yes, especially with the marketing department. I had a discussion with a vendor that works directly with the company, his comment about the deficiencies within the organization was primarily regarding the experience of the marketing team. He did not have great things to say about the guy on top either.Personally I had a poor experience with them. I ordered a bike and paid in full back in 2020 that was 'in stock' with a delivery date within a week or so, turns out it wasn't in stock and when I asked to cancel and for a refund it took them over a month to process it.
Sounds like they never really got their processes in order, shame as the products were good and who knows where they would be now if they had a different maangement team.
well when you live life un-caged , you just don't have any empathyPoor old Markus, probably didn't occur to sell a couple of his Porsches to keep the staff in a job.
Wouldn't bet my money on that outcome, be interesting to revisit this post a year from now.I've had 2 YT ebikes, and in neither case have I had any trouble getting service or support, quite the opposite, quickly returned emails and helpful, but yes in the USA. I hope this doesn't sound condescending to report the truth about my own experience. As to the financial troubles, I would predict that YT will be fine long term, sucks if you have a bike in Europe it at the moment it sounds. It would be interesting to understand how ownership is structured for YT USA...
Dont understand how many people believe the fairytale that YT US is somehow totally unaffected. YT is a German company with its HQ and factory located there. So who was designing the bikes? Who has ownership of the bike design? Who owns the relationship with the suppliers, who owns the moulds for the CF frames? Is any part of YT USA owned by the owner of YT Europe (Markus?) How can YT USA be unaffected?
The last I heard YT USA is not affected by the restructuring of the Euro division.
Wow, I get that perhaps you don't like the brand, or the personality and actions of YT's senior staff - but a lot of us couldn't afford a Specialized, or Trek ebike. Many of us gave our hard-earned dollars for an entry-level ebike, that may now need warrenty, parts, and support in general. So I sure hope whatever pricey bike brand you chose to buy, doesn't fall victim to the complex, unpredictable, and ever-changing market woes that most of the global bicycle industry is experiencing now. BTW, my Core 1 Decoy, although crashed, and rough-up from use, is an amazing, well designed, and robust ebike, at any price in my book.Sad? Hardly. Good riddance.
I get it. It sucks. But the outcome was predictable once Ardian acquired the company. As you were.
