A few days ago I totally crashed my GX derailleur, hanger, chain... Also the smallest cogs of the cassette are worn out.
I thought about upgrading to eagle 70 or 90 T-Type. AXS is too expensive for me, also I prefer a mechanical shifting.

All parts on the rear are clear to me but I don't know what standard is the spider and chainring, what components need to be changed and what kind of tools are required? Crankarm ISIS press our tool required? Lockring tool to remove the spider if required? Is the chainring a standard mount where I can find a suitable t-type or will it not fit?

Much appreciated for your advises.

Hi,

Crankarm bolts are self-extracting, so just undo in usual direction, noting that once initially loosened it may feel like it gets tighter before loosening again - this is the self-extractor working.

The spider won't need to be changed (unless something terrible has happened to it!) or removed if you are staying at 34T or larger chainring. I went down to 32T which means I did have to remove the spider to fit it, as chainring physically too small to get over the spider without removal.

I use this tool to remove the spider, remember it is reverse threaded (search for this on amazon, I think it is the same as Bosch version.

Chainring is standard 104bcd, just choose your 12spd narrow/wide version you like. You do not need a T-Type chainring, just 12spd compatible. Honestly not sure about offset - someone could maybe help here?

Hope that helps, and would be interested in the chainring offset as I think I got this wrong on recent change resulting in a fair bit of grinding

Thanks for all the informations. I thought the chainring also need to be changed because transmission inner width is slightly smaller?
Good point...I think transmission rely on 55mm Chainline, but idk what spider is mounted...I already found informations that the reign have a 55mm CL spider but I think I need to measure or disassemble to see what's printed on it.

I sucessfully upgraded to Eagle 90 Transmission. Replaced the trigger, direct mount eagle 90 derailleur, XS-1270 cassette and a new SRAM 36t T-Type chainring, the spider was 104BCD and it seems that i already was a 55mm offset. Chainring war possible to remove and assamble a new one....but it's really tight.
Shifting is now really smooth, chain is super silent on singletrails, with the downside that I can hear a ratteling noise from the motor, which was not or just minor noticable before.
