While the focus of this thread has drifted towards the acceptability of the chance of life altering injury and if it is something that those that choose to watch action sports events can expect to witness let me just say as the parent of a young adult that sustained a very similar injury 15yrs ago I wish Adolf well. Although my son's accident occured at an after party of an action sports event, he was heavily involved in the process as an action sports cinematographer at the time of his injury. He had seen lots of crashes and in fact that drove him to take 1st responder courses. A few of those were at early Rampage events.

What we discovered, as Adolf and his family and friends are, is that the community surrounding accidental disability is huge and their response is immediate. I doubt that he will face any financial hardship but losing your ability to function as you are accustomed to is his biggest hurdle. A whole new life awaits him as it did my son, who took it and has turned his life into another chapter. I know I couldn't be more proud of what he has become and hope that Adolf's journey goes as well.

I know of another renowned action sports athlete that suffered a broken back that has landed him as a para that has chosen to not advertise his injury and few outside of his circle even know of it. The fact that Adolf, as well as my son after his injury, have chosen to talk about it and as well expose the fact of life changing injury to benefit others is their choice. But it occurs every day and not just in action sports but in peoples everyday lives.
